Santo Domingo.- For the first time in the country’s golfing history the Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf) will send a local player to compete in PGA’s Pro Golf Tour, in Puerto Rico.
When making the announcement Fedogolf president Juan Cohén said the Dominican golfer will be chosen from local professionals and the most outstanding amateurs, in a match Fedogolf will host on December 26 to 28, in the links at La Estancia Golf & Resort, in La Romana (east). “The fact that it’s the first Dominican golfer to ever play in a PGA professional event is of historical importance for sports in the Dominican Republic.”
Fedogolf’s president said the player who wins the invitational at La Estancia will have the right to represent us in the stop of the PGA Tour, to be held in Puerto Rico from March 11 to 14.
Cohén said the distinction to compete in the match, managed through Puerto Rico Golf Federation president Sidney Wolf, will be in the modality Stroke Play, with 72 holes in four rounds.
Among the participants figure Juan Campusano, Hiram Silfa, Carlos Arias, Willy Pumarol, Juan Carlos Perelló, Lino Guerrero and Miguel Feris, and the professionals Julio Santos and Tulio Luna.
