Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic won six medals in a regional Olympic shotgun shooting match, including four gold and two silver, during their participation in the Central American and Caribbean Shooting tournament held in Guatemala.

The team was composed of trap shooters Eduardo Lorenzo (DR Army), Maria Quintanal (DR Air Force) and Nicolas Yunes (DR Police) who won gold as a team.

The DR Olympic skeet team won gold as well composed of brothers Julio Manuel Dujarric (DR Army), Julio Elisardo Dujarric and Eric Federico Paulino (DR Army). Julio Elisardo Dujarric (DR Army) also won silver in individual competition.

Both Dujarric brothers are the sons of Dr. Julio Dujarric Sr, who presides the Dominican Republic Clay Shooting Federation (FEDOTIPLA).

Athletes were coached by the trainer José Piñeyro, a Spanish national.

The Dominican Republic also earned a gold medal in the Olympic double trap event with Dominican shooter Sergio Piñeyro (DR Air Force), who finished with a total score of 137 out of a possible 150 points, and in his last match broke 48 out of 50.

Luisín Mejía, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), called the results “historical accomplishments.”
