Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- While the economic landscape in the US is looking grim these days, the blue-sky view from La Costa Realty’s new headquarters in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic shines bright with promise. Demand for property is high, and sales are strong. “It’s a success story,” says owner-broker of the company.
Originally from Puerto Rico, and having done business in the US all his life but concerned about today’s plummeting economy, this Florida agent has found a silver lining. It’s taking business outside the country to the sugar-colored beaches of the Caribbean, as he’s always dreamed.
“After two years of doing so well, we’ve decided to relocate permanently. I knew my return to the Caribbean was coming,” Scott Medina says.
La Costa Destinations International Realty is a growing network of international brokers promoting Punta Cana real estate around the world. Although company staff has been in place in Punta Cana for the past two years, Medina plans to relocate there in May, finalizing the move. Until then, Medina will continue to travel and manage business from Florida with the help of his partner, Emil Montas, a current resident and native of the island.
Why Dominican Republic? Medina explains that tropical destinations are appealing to US baby boomers and European retirees. Now more than ever, baby boomers preparing for a carefree life are looking for value in their dream getaway in the tropical climates where their pensions will buy more and they may have access to services they may not necessarily have at home. High real estate taxes and a floundering US economy have many retirees from North America seeking alternatives in the international real estate market. As it turns out, Dominican
Republic is among the top ten destinations in the Caribbean, Central and South America for places to retire, along with Mexico, Costa Rica, Belize, Panama, and Brazil.
While Medina expects big bank developments that rely on large financial institutions will likely suffer, the interest of worldwide investors to participate in such highly successful resorts like Cap Cana has made it much easier for the group to negotiate new financing with other banks. For second homebuyers and retirees, Dominican
Republic has a wealth of natural resources—from beautiful beaches to pristine golf courses and breath-taking mountains—that will continue to attract a wide range of buyers.
“With every downturn, opportunity is always nearby. Terrific value can still be found in pristine Dominican Republic real estate,” says Medina. “You can still be carefree when you need to be. My dreams of returning to island life have come true!”

Why do you continue to attack me? Why do you need to post advertising on my news articles?
I had a press release and it is being picked up by different media outlets, including Dominican Today and MSNBC News.
You don't see me in Punta Cana? Well, you don't have to see me, the ones that have to see me are the developers and my clients but don't worry my friend, you will be seeing a lot of me in Punta Cana in the coming weeks and years to come. I will continue to do what I do best - which is selling real estate. I have a strong CODE OF ETHICS which that includes to NEVER TALK NEGATIVELY ABOUT MY COMPETITION. That comes with years of experience as well as being a LICENSED REAL ESTATE BROKER in the State of Florida!
And yes we do have representatives in Puerto Rico selling DR Real Estate as well representatives in Canada, USA, France, Spain, UK, Russia and Portugal!
Why all the hate? I don't get it!

By the way - other Dominican Republic real estate brokers and developers such as Vista Cana Resort & Country Club, ERIMIL, Arnold Morales, Indhira Desangles (Cap Cana), Cheryl Rinehart, Jocelyn Hernandez Irizarry, and Alexandre Houisse to name a few have congratulated me on such a positive article. Alexandre went as far as to post on his Facebook status and sending an email to all the members of his group. Positive news such as this piece benefits all of us working the Dominican Republic real estate market.
So again, I don't understand why the hate and animosity from you towards me and my company!
We will continue to bring positive results to the local developers as well as do everything to bring positive news for the Dominican Republic real estate and construction industry.

As a Dominican licensed real estate agent in Florida, usa.
I have to congratulate Mr Scott Medina for the wonderfull job he's doing
in Punta cana, D.R.
To be noticed by such a prestigious agency in the united states such as MSNBC
has a lot to say about his work, something that no one with so many years in the D.R. market
have achieved. I'm a strong believer that good work beats envy and everything that comes with it.
Again, Mr Medina. Keep the good work and as a proud Dominican I welcome you to our country
I'm also looking to re-locate to the Dominican Republic and for sure I will love to work for
your prestigious company. I have no doubt you will continue to rise in my dearly country.

Hi Scott
I wouldn`t worry if I was you, this lack of ethics and professionalism is already getting the attention of potential clients, which will never buy from the people that like him don`t know the limits of personal and professional. Perhaps he`s jealous that your company has good and positive reviews everywhere, and you do a great job. I`m glad you warned me about this guy, from which I will never buy anything if this is his true face.
Just reminds me of an inmortal phrase by the great philosopher Socrates: "The envious person grows lean with the fatness of their neighbor".
Since a little *ETHICAL ADVERTISING* doesn`t hurt, whoever wants to buy beachfront villas, condos and lots in the North coast of the Dominican Republic ( Sosua, Cabarete, Puerto Plata, Cofresi and Cabrera ) contact me through our exclusive representatives in the East coast:

Hello Scott!
I know it's difficult, but please try to not take this man's drivel to heart.
It's obvious to me that he is envious of your position and the attention you have received!
Had he worked as hard to build a solid business and to maintain a solid reputation this wouldn't be happening now. All he will succeed in doing is scaring away potential clients!
We have been in contact with your office several times and you and your staff have been more than helpful to us! When we come do in the fall to look for a Dominican home it certainly would not be with anyone else!
Hold your head up & God Bless!

Scott- As you can see, I have deleted the comment. This is not the appropriate forum to discuss an item that may be at least in part of a personal nature.
Your response was professional and diplomatic and it was an appropriate way to handled it. However, the seeds of doubt has already been planted, nevertheless it is never too late to do something about it. My recommendation that if there is unfinished business left to do, you need to take care of it, nip it at the bud before it grows into something worse, otherwise, it ignored or left alone sooner or later it will come back to haunt you.
I believe you are a person of vision and as such I am sure you will want to build your business on a solid foundation, if you cut corners in the process, your structure will crumble, as soon as the first strong wave comes to shore.
I do not wish to discuss this issue any further, only wanted to relay a feeling and a message to you and to others, hopefully to their benefit and advantage.

Hi Scott,
It has been a real pleasure working with your U.S. and Local Dominican Teams.
Your team has demonstrated extreme professionalism . My experience with you and your company has changed my view on how a property should be marketed overseas, and the quality of service provided in our collaborations, has been courteous, professional, and encouraging. It far exceeds any previous experience I had with many local brokers/agents.
We at Punta Cana Lifestyles Real Estate, are sure the future holds many different opportunities for us and we will always regard La Costa Destinations as a valued partner. Looking forward to working with you on different projects in the near future!

I appreciate your revised comments: however, what you need to know is that I have made repeated attempts to contact Luis with no response. I tried again today, but he will not answer my calls or my emails. From what you have written, you definitely only have one side of the story. If he refuses to talk to me or to try to clear things, then their is only so much I can do. I need to move on until he is ready.
If you read all the comments that been posted you will see that I have built a solid foundation and there should be no seeds of doubt on how I do business and how I conduct myself. I don't cut corners and my structure is only getting stronger everyday. I am respected by my clients and my peers. You imply that I have not tried to solve this situation. The only one who does not want to nip this in the bud is Luis. Since you have come to his defense and brought this out in a public forum, which as you know I don't think was appropriate, you should talk to Luis and have him respond

Scott you truly are a marketing genius ! Donald Trump says, "talk about me ! Talk about me good or talk about me bad, but talk about me"
I believe you are a genius on the web, actually I have learned much about this marketing from you. To date, I have never seen you, that is not necessary, the important thing is the work you leave behind. I think you have plant the tree that is necessary for your success.
The real estate boom is over, you and I can not control that, but when it does come back you will do very well. Meanwhile enjoy the life under the coconut tree, because truly thats the best place to be. Your wasting your time if you really do care about what others say.

I want to thank all of you who have positive comments and positive things to say about me, La Costa Destinations International Realty and how we do business. Aside from my personal issues that were brought up by Guillermone, which really has no place in a public forum, indicates the integrity, honesty and the strength of our company in the local and international real estate markets.
It seems Milos Korac (RE/Max Island Realty) has decided to remove the links he had initially posted for obvious reasons. I wish him all the luck in the world and want to remind him that he will see much more of me and La Costa Destinations International Realty in the weeks and years to come.
From: Dominican Republic, Punta Cana
As far as Milos comment on "Dominican law court with real estate frauds with titles, commission disputes etc..." I suggest you look at your own back yard before you continue to slander and defame others.
Your comment "I just can not help myself when I see a self promotion posting comments on your own article." Are you trying to turn this back on to me? You were the one that started posting your links under my article. Why did you remove the comments with links that lead back to RE/MAX Island Realty? Not 1 link, but 5! Press releases are intended to be picked up by different media outlets - this is Marketing 101.
Say what you want to say about me and my business - We will always come out on top. And I will never have any negative to say about you or come down to your level. I am a true professional! Yet to see anyone come to your defense!

Glad to see you are doing so well... You are an intelligent and creative professional; therefore, I am not surprised by your successes. In the years since we have known and dealt with you, we have been happy to see an honest young man that really knows his field and the countries where he does business. Scott, I don't know why he would do this, its not very professional. Besided as you now, I was a former Re/Max agent here in Florida for many year and know a keller Williams agent. I looked up your area and I sent a email to a agent on Re/Max web site before I found you and I never got a response. Like a few others, Both my husband and I are very pleased at how on top of any question we have, you always give us great advice and direct us.
You also went out of your way to meet me in Miami after I atttend a Luxury Designation class and went over everything I might need to know about moving to the Dominican Republic.
I believe what you do onto other will come back to you, so just keep on doing the great job you are doing and stay ontop of the great press and website you have, We will be down in June and so looking forward to looking at the golf communities we are interested in.

Of course, the only person I would want to deal with, would be Mr. Medina
as my first transaction went very smooth and why deal with anyone else and leave things to chance. Thanks for all your help, Larry Vetter
