MONTE PLATA, Dominican Republic.- Monte Plata’s representative in the Dominican Republic Miss Universe Pageant 2009, Ana Rita Contreras, pledged to defend the rights and aspirations of the Dominican youth and especially those of her province, if crowned in the beauty pageant slated for May 17, in Santo Domingo’s Sans Souci Port.
For the stunning 24 year old architect who speaks five languages, the deepest yearning has been to become the Dominican youth’s spokeswoman as a beauty queen, for which she decided to compete in the pageant.
Contreras was presented to the media as Monte Plata’s candidate in the Miss Dominican Republic Universe Pageant 2009, in a press conference held in Santo Domingo’s Clarion Hotel.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Architecture in UNIBE University and graduated as a model in the Elegant Femme Academy, and received a Masters degree in New York’s Columbia University, where she was bestowed the Academic Excellence award.

Ms. Contreras appears to be elegant, sharp, educated and beautiful. I wish her well. She should be able to represent her DR without any problem. Unfortunately beauty pagents are very political and not always do the best candidates win. Good luck Ana Rita.

Again, as I have repeatedly stated, beauty is subjective and it is always in the eyes of the beholder. Roza Gough has great looks, no doubt, but to me she is simply a bland kind of a beauty, just like pastry displayed in a store front window, it has visual appeal and may look great to eat, but lacks flavor. Roza is an attractive high fashion model, probably great on the cat walk and likely to be a better candidate for the UM pageant because she has precisely the characterics they seek. However, la Mulatona Ana Rita Contreras has a more balanced combination of beauty, brains, plus the sabor, picardia and sexuality that Roza Gough does not have. I know a guy who salivates at the sight of a pasty white, flat butted women that are not only "plancha por alante, but also plancha por atrá." Now go figure? For me personally, I prefer the curvy, meaty women who are evenly and reasonably filled out in a proportional manner, rather then that tall, slender and starved look.
