Santo Domingo.- The Mexico-based company CEMEX presented the winners of its 5th contest “CEMEX Dominican Republic Works Prize,” amid expectations of all present in the award ceremony.

The winners were the project Palmeraie, in Las Terrenas, Samana, by the company Inversiones Palmeraie Terrenas, S.A., in the Residential category; whereas the Bravo Supermarket Distribution Center won the Institutional-Industrialist prize, by the company, CCM S.A.

The prizes seek to award best finished local works in concrete and cement between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008, which stand out for their conceptual, constructive, technical and aesthetic qualities.

CEMEX will invited these finalists to participate in the international phase in Mexico in October, where more than 60 works built with the highest quality in design and execution in four continents and around 20 countries will compete.

In his keynote speech CEMEX president Carlos Jacks said his company created the CEMEX Works Prize to stimulate engineers and architects around the globe, by recognizing innovation and promoting competitiveness. “Today, again and for the fifth consecutive year we promote Dominican Republic’s greatness through modern works that reflect our builders’ worth. Their enthusiastic participation in this edition reflects the local guild’s gracious acceptance of this important initiative, which reaffirms our commitment to transform our leadership into a viable development for the country.”
