Santo Domingo.– Last year Taiwan imported US$61.99 million worth of products from the Dominican Republic, while the country exported scrap metal, medical instruments, rubber soled shoes, train rail elements and electrical protectors to the Asian nation.

According to Chang Chun Ping of the Taiwan Embassy in Santo Domingo, trade between the two countries was up 21.33% in 2008 as compared to 2007. "Taiwan exported vehicle parts, pumps, poly-acetates, tires, and textiles to the Dominican Republic, even though the high cost of power and impositions in the Labor Code have discouraged more investment from Taiwan."

He said that this year the Taiwanese Technical Mission transferred its shrimp farm in Puerto Viejo, Azua, to the Dominican Ministry of Environment.

That scrap metal sent to Taiwan comes from our infrastructure such as for example the Juan Bosch bridge or the manholes. We must stop the scavenging of our infrastructure to feed the monsters of the West!

Dominican need to stop destroying our country for the sake of the stupid money!

First off, Taiwan is in the East. We should be doing business with the China and Taiwan instead of limiting ourselves based on politics.

What is generoso talking about,the scrab metal they are buying is all the metal you thro away that you dont use no more,like the refrigerator,air conditioner,cars and all types off metal that can be reuse so we all humans dont keep destroying the world by using the earth natural resourses.
