Santo Domingo.– Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation announced that its franchisee, Dominspec, S.A. has opened the first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop in the Dominican Republic.

The new shop is located in the center of Santo Domingo on the popular Winston Churchill Avenue. This is the first of 14 Krispy Kreme shops the franchisee plans to open over the next five years. The shop will offer 17 varieties of Krispy Kreme doughnuts that will be made fresh daily, including the signature Original Glazed doughnut.

"Our franchise partner, Dominspec, S.A., is an experienced QSR operator that knows this exciting market extremely well, and its unique experience fits perfectly with the fun and excitement associated with the Krispy Kreme brand around the world," said Jim Morgan, president and chief executive officer of Krispy Kreme.

jesus, you guys (blue n danny) are edgy today, it was said with good humor intended, truthfully i'd rather eat a doughnut from an established franchise than an empanada from one of those stands where they use the oil over and over again.
my point was all of the grease and transfatty goods used to make the doughnuts but in the end they taste really good, so maybe when they open up i'll buy a dozen donuts for the 2 of you to share

Good!

Dominican Donuts are horrible and have been horrible for as long as I remember.

By the way, whther is healthy or not, let it go. Having a donut here and there won't kill anyone. Now if you make it part of your everyday diet, then you may have issues, but, what at excess is not bad?

We have to be careful with the choice of words we use here. We dominicans dont know what a Jibarito is. I guess some people should try to find thier right blog to post what they want to post.

I doubt if most people will be able to afford this crap food so they will probably go the way of those horrible cinnamon stalls which seem to have failing ,, the array of horrible fast food in malls is very bad in the DR and as soon as mall introduces some good tasty cheap food shops in a food mall , the entire mall will have great success. I can not name one decent food mall in the DR

Toxic Waste.

I sure hope they're frying those doughnuts in Palm Oil.
That will really get the job done. I'll bet the same people own a funeral parlor.

Very interesting somebody would bring this franchise to DR when it failed badly in the States. There is a reason you don't find their outlet store in too many places but see their donuts on the shelf at 7Eleven.

"I sure hope they're frying those doughnuts in Palm Oil.

The US is fighting hard to get fast food restaurants to stop using transfats but has relative success, unlike what most of the advance world has done to ban it completely. Denmark was the first to ban transfat then followed by Switzerland. I just hope the DR will follow the same trend or to at least at minimum begin to have some sort of restriction.

But we know quite well that is wishful thinking, that even if efforts are made, payoffs will take care of that and business will contine as usual. In the DR every man for himself, no one will have your best interest at heart. You got to watch out for number #1 yourself, because no on will do it for you.
