Port-au-Prince.- Dominican Tourism Press Association (Adompretur) executives held a meeting Monday with Haitian journalists interested in creating a similar entity, to showcase and promote their country’s tourist attractions.

Adompretur president Osvaldo Soriano pledge Adompretur’s support and collaboration to form a Managing Committee and guidelines to forge Haiti’s tourism journalists into a professional entity.

Haiti’s Tourism Ministry sponsored the activity held at its offices in which more than 20 journalists from Haiti’s most important print, online, radio and TV media.

I totally agree. However much has a lot to do with our Dominican big hearts. We don't hold a grudge against anyone. Nevertheless, you must also remember Adompretur in essence is a totally independent, private non-profit entity not necessarily connected to or directly part of any government organization which in most cases are motivated by political interests. And as we all know, politics tends to ruin everything. But in spite of it all, it is to our best interest to see Haiti get all the help it can get and prosper. If Haiti does well we can reap much of the benefits and hopefully we dodge or avoid many of the social ills which effects the DR. Eventually, Haiti can learn to help themselves, learn to solve their own problems and not depend on us. But there is a slight chance that it can also backfire.
