Cancun,Mexico.- On November 27, RoyaltonRiviera Cancun added another impressive title to its list of accomplishmentswinning the Gold Award for sustainability from Travelife. This award, presentedto hotels who exhibit an ability to manage their impact socially,environmentally and economically, is a recognition of Royalton Luxury Resort’sstrong commitment to sustainable operations in Cancun, Mexico.

Sinceopening in December 2014, Royalton Riviera Cancun implemented a number ofecologically beneficial programs. First, the sea turtle program that ran fromMay to November saw the protection of 50 turtle nests, allowing 99.5% of thehatchlings to reach the ocean safely.

Equallyimportant, the resort was kept over 3 tons of waste out of local landfillsthrough proper waste management. Policies through this waste initiative includeresponsible use of resources, proper labelling of garbage versus recyclables,and the composting of organic food waste. Socially, Royalton Riviera Cancunaids the local community by hosting artisan markets at the hotel, where guestsbuy handmade souvenirs, and the resort works with suppliers in the area therebysupporting the business community of Puerto Morelos in addition to providingjobs to over two-thousand people.
