Santo Domingo.- Casa de Campo La Marina executives on Tuesday announced the Casa de Campo International Blue Marlin Classic fishing tournament, starting March 17.

Speaking at Hotel Barcelo Santo Domingo, José Gonzalvo said boats, fishermen and visitors have begun to arrive for the event to last until March 22, with an awards banquet at Casa de Campo Marina Yacht Club.

The director of La Marina welcomed competitors of the sport and thanked the organizations that will make the event possible, which has already piqued the interest of fishermen and fans in the entire region.

"This is the second international tournament to be held in La Marina Casa de Campo, will the full release of fish caught and returned to water,” Gonzalvo said, adding that only blue needles score points.

Teams

International Billfish Tournament director Rick Alvarez said there will be a limit of four fishermen and at least two per team. “There will be one IGFA-certified official per boat each day to prevent regulation violations and to verify varieties.”
