Culture Ministry fests top Egyptologist

Santo Domingo.- Culture minister Jose Antonio Rodriguez on Tuesdayhosted a gala for famed Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass, who‘s been anadvocate of safeguarding Egypt and its treasures for decades.

In the event held at the Museo de las Casas Reales in the city’sColonial Zone, Hawass’ lifelong works were spotlighted, especially for thereturn of the Egyptian heritage to that Arab nation.

Among the personalities present figured Museum curator Ana Yee,State-owned Reservas bank CEO Enrique Ramirez, Dominican ambassador to theUK Federico Cuello and prominent journalistNuria Piera.

Among Hawass’ most important historical findings figure theValley of the Golden Mummies in Bahariya Oasis, the tomb of the builders of theGiza pyramids and the identification of the mummy of Queen Hatshepsut and relativesof the pharaoh Tutankhamun.
