Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic will host the fifth round of discussions of the Caribbean Forum with a view to an Economic Association Accord with the European Union.
The sixth round of such meetings will take place in the forthcoming weeks, yet it is necessary that the 15 Caribbean Forum countries assume joint positions before the year ends, in their pursuit of free trade. The goal is to have all issues ironed out so that the treaty between the Caribbean and the European Union can be implemented in 2008.
Julio Ortega Tous, ambassador in charge of the National Negotiation Commission, yesterday informed that the Dominican Republic is unified in its criteria with the other nations to demand from the European Union a definition of an assistance package that the entity will offer the regional countries.
