La Romana.- The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) said it will provide all the help the country needs to develop projects to produce biofuel, such as ethanol from sugar cane and biodiesel from vegetal oils.
IDB president Luis Alberto Moreno, speaking in a meeting with Dominican government officials held this weekend in Casa de Campo, said biofuels are currently a great opportunity for the country, and are part of Latin America’s most important technological revolution in the last 50 years.
"We are in a true revolution in which each Latin American country has special conditions and those conditions are given in Dominican Republic in the measure in which each farmer can produce foods and can be an energy company," he said.

I don't see where DR citizens are benefitting from it unless they could compete with such corporations by creating more bateyes & catch hell from the U.N
