Santo Domingo.- Gasoline Retailers Association (Anadegas) president Juan Ignacio Espaillat says that fuel supplies are limited in the south west of the country, and diesel is being reserved for hospital and emergency use only, so that rescue and relief work can continue in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Noel.
In the most remote areas of the south west region, diesel sales are being limited to RD$500 per person, as a preventive measure until the authorities resolve the problem.
The president of Anadegas also called on all members to join in the relief efforts, starting by helping gas station employees who have experienced losses, as well as the country in general, by turning their stations into collection centers for food and supplies for the victims of Noel.
Espaillat strongly criticized Shell for holding back fuel sales until the weekly price increases were announced by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

With theprice of Light Sweet Crude toppong US$95/barrel, theVenezuelan Crude at US$50/barrel lookslike a very good deal to me. So, why doesn't the government spend its credits on the cheaper product, during this emergency especially.
Additionally, I have wondered why don't they just order exclusively from Venezuela since they ballyhood that contract so much in the past, but seemingly don't care to take adva
Is/was there more to the contract than meets the eye? Was it all for political reasons and to turn the focus of other problems away from thepublic awareness? That seem to be the way all gevernments do things here, no matter who they are. Play o the emotions to divert the focus to something totally different from what the current problem is.
You be the judge.
