Gas guzzlers rejoice...!

Santo Domingo.- Prices on premium and regular gasoline and diesel will fall slightly starting Saturday morning, from 40 cents to RD$1.70, whereas liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remains unchanged.

The Industry and Commerce Ministry posted new prices for premium gasoline, to cost RD$161.40 per gallon, or 40 cents less whereas regular will cost RD$152.20, also 40 cents less.

Regular diesel will cost RD$134.20, or 50 cents less per gallon and premium diesel oil will cost RD$138.00 or 40 cents less.

As to subsidized LPG, it remains unchanged at RD$59.95 per gallon, whereas the non-subsidized will sell for RD$81.71 per gallon.

Wow! That will really make a huge difference when I fill up the tank tomorrow!! (not). Too many consecutive weeks lowering the price means they're preparing a big rise soon :P

Man I can't figure out what is going on. The value of the peso hasn't risen this year against the dollar like it has every year. Perhaps the government has decided NOT to manipulate it as a Christmas present to everyone:)

Escott, the arrivals have been slower this year, what with flight cancellations and other conditions. last year this time we had more tourists, snowbirds and dominicans returning for vacation than we have now. but fear not; by christmas, it will be 31 to 1!!!
