LOS ANGELES, (PRNewswire).- BioGold Fuels Corporation in a joint venture with Bioteknia has entered into a letter of intent to build a waste to fuel production facility in the Dominican Republic.
Bioteknia will provide the contracts for the land to build the plant, the supply of waste for processing and the purchase of the resulting fuel and energy. It will also secure the necessary governmental permits to build and operate the plant. BioGold will provide the technology and know how to build and operate the plants, as well as the funding necessary for construction.
"BioGold is excited to be expanding our operations into the Dominican Republic," said BioGold's CEO, Steve Racoosin. "This plant will be a flagship for the waste to energy marketplace. This is the first step towards achieving BioGold's global goal of eliminating the waste just sitting in our landfills and converting it to renewable energy and fuels."

In other words, the US imperialists intend to open a network toxic landfills in the DR to accommodate the US waste, trash, garbage, industrial byproducts, and medical poisons... environmental dumping.
In the DR, US capitalists will not face civil liability for the sickness and contamination that afflict the residents that surround the dumpsites. US residents have file and often won thousands of these lawsuits against the trashy US bourgeoisie. When you environmentally murder DRs, the degenerate and reactionary DR bourgeoisie applauds. No legal consequences.
The US imperialists promise the gullible DRs that this refuse will be turned into "biofuels," this is sales pitch that guarantees a warm welcome for the pollutting refuse.

and the list grows. wasn´t it just last month another american company was planning to do the same? a firm which, actually, had not yet began to prove that it could produce ethanol at economically feasible prices from metropolitan solid waste. hopefully, they will do their homework before jumping in head first, like Leo and the metro. the problem with msw( metropolitan solid waste) technology for producing ethanol from garbage is that the theory is sound, but the application is very variable from location to location. it is not simply a matter of processing GARBAGE! you are looking to extract ethanol from the cellulosic content of the landfill. that includes all the organic matter, such as paper. a landfill in the urban areas is different from a landfill in the rural areas. city landfills have more paper, such as discarded newspapers ,periodicals and books. also, packaging boxes and cardboard. rural landfills have more agricultural content, such as fruit husks and skins. hopefully,

Mr. Jander, the neighborhood inwhich I live in NYC went to court to stop the building of one of these. Guess were they built it? At Riverbank Park in Washington Heights a heavy Dominican populated area. If you you look at the astma rate between Washington Heights and Battery Park, you will see why such installation was strongly rejected and fought in court for months after months by Battery Park City's residents. If it was nfr attery Park, its not good for DR either. Remember that regardless of economics, people are hman and deserve equal treatment. This is simply another way to get rid of large amount fo garbage that is produced here in the U.S. by a trow society like ours. They are correct, Mr. Jander, do not be blinded and do not become a fanatic in the process. You it is easy for educated people to get fanatics to do evil even against themselves, because we know that they will defend anything just for the sake of defending it. tHIS ONLY MEANS MORE ASTMA FOR THESE PEOPLE.

All this pretty much confirms from this companys facility ,if was built, the byproducts of the production of energy from waste will increase the chance of people in areas near the facility of getting sick. Mr. Jander, I live in the U.S. and I am an American citizen, but to be realistic, we do not want these multi-purpose facilities in our areas for their health risks and damage to the respiratory system. Dominicans are not les human than those of us that liv in U.S. therefore, I am against the exportation of our contamination, eventhough, this is to my advantage. Please search about the astma rate in poor areas, that often house bus depots, multi-purpose plants, and industrial parks. I am certain that these facilities will not be built in the city center of SD or one of those upper class areas, now why is that? becuase they do not need the money, or because they know that it is not worthy when that means that your child will be astmatic as a result.

Dreadlocks, Mr. Jander is a perfect example of what I have been calling FANATICS on this forum. You see they have a pattern, which is to defend everything that goes on in the DR, without even reading what the issue is. In this particular case he wants these multi-purpose plants to emitt the biproduct that causes astmas and cancer, because after all he needs to defend the DR. This is really a sad story, while we are rejecting the installation of such facility, he wants it, simply because he feels the needs to defend DR. Remember, that the reason why the situation in DR will not come around as soon as we might want it, is because in general Dominicans have a tendency to defend what ever is being done in the island and look at people that dare to critic as agitators or simply not being Dominican enought, what a joke they are.
From: United States
Dagtan, these are really sad examples of humanity. people who blindly support political regimes because of some inexplicable allegiance ,do more harm than good to the country. there are some people who post on this forum that believe criticising the government is equivalent to criticising the pld. they then invoke memories of hipolito and his vicissitudes to make comparisons and relative analysis. i dont give a rat`s behind about hipolito; he is no more relevant than napoleon. what he stole from the country was money, not vision. we do not have a metro because of hipolito; actually, he rejected the idea when President Lula from Brazil suggested it. we do not have increasing inequality in the last two years because he failed to address such issues. he does not set today`s feeble education budget. the continued corruption and lack of transparency which exists today is certainly not attributable to him! the fact that i make these observations does not make me a prd supporter. i criticised
From: United States
Hippo just as much as i criticise Leonel. what people fail to realise is that Leonel and Hipolito should not be the central focus of our discussions. but we live in some sort of patriarchal world, where we must have some father figure. we live in his world, and he tells us what we can and cannot do. it is like a father telling his 8 year old son when to turn out the lights and go to bed! so Leo and his gang get to tell us what is good for us, without any sort of referendum or plebiscite on major issues. you need a train, he says, not books and classrooms. the prd and the pld are public SERVANTS, only they dont realise it. we should start the mission of showing them who is boss, not defending their nonsense in heated exchanges. what purpose is served by stating that hippo stole 2 billion and leo only stole 1? in the final analysis it is your money; most of these guys over whom you are willing to come to blows entered into politics with nothing, and leave as billionaires!
From: United States
as we speak, construction crews are working double shift and overtime to get the metro ready for 27th of february. that way , leo can make his triumphant ride into the station to much fanfare and trumpets. conventional wisdom and engineering expertise say that the deadline cannot be met, but he is still cracking the whip. so shortcuts will probably have to be taken, so he can achieve his grand moment in the sun; the man who made us almost New York! then two weeks later, the thing will malfunction, because it wasnt properly done. if the supporters of either party find this to be acceptable governance, so be it.

Mr. Jander, if we in our American neighborhoods are not giving these facilities a chance, then why do the people in DR have to give these facilities a chance? Please answer this question. The bottom line is that we all know that they are harmfull and do not want them in our areas. Yet, they build them in areas that are heavely immigrant and people of low educational level, maybe because they have the same level of naiveness as you do.
From: Canada
Kids play in dumps in the U.S? The fact remains the technology I really believe does not exist to transfer waste to energy without some form of emissions, that are 100 % filtered. One big reason I believe it does not exist, is why could this company not implement this in any city in the US, with all the money in grants, subsities and it is such a hot topic in the news. You would think one city out of hundreds in the U.S. would jump on board if it were safe. The problem could be it may not safe.
I believe the people who dies or get sick from dengue, or the plague directly caused by these dumps in the U.S. is far less then the amount of people who will get sick, die from air pollution in DR.
Of coarse a solution to these dumps is needed. It should be of U.S policy to sift through the existing dumps in the U.S to start recyling processess. Going forward the people of the U.S. need to be very prudent on reducing, reusing and recyling. More so,all manufactures need to lessen packaging.
