Santo Domingo.– Unigold is a Canadian based mining company exploring to find and develop gold deposits on its 100-per-cent-owned property located in the Dominican Republic.

Having the largest land package in the Dominican Republic (1000 square kilometer), the goal is to target bulk tonnage, open pittable, oxide gold deposits within a similar setting to the world class Pueblo Viejo gold project.

The Pueblo Viejo Gold Mine has produced over 5 million ounces from oxide ore between 1975 and 1993 and contains an additional geological inventory of 20.4million ounces of gold in sulphide ore (proven and probable).

The mine is currently being developed by partners Barrick Gold Corporation and Goldcorp Inc. The economics of any discovery will be significantly improved by the fact that Unigold is benefiting from an 18-year holiday on all corporate taxes, sales taxes and import duties in the Dominican Republic.

The Canadians are the one stealing resources in DR and leaving behind an environmental disaster that include the leveling off the mountains, chemical releases, atmospheric releases, acoustic pollution, disruption of the fauna migration, geological disruption of the soil (infertile for cultivation due to elemental removal!),etc. The Canadians are termites and are hidding behind the "blame the Americans" umbrella to camouflage their destructive operations, and not paying sale, corporate taxes or duties! Incredible, this is stealing national wealth! The government must destroy this deal and stop the bleeding!

I mean if they bought that property they better have had to pay hundreds of millions for it.
but whats this whole tax free business? tax them to death or kick them out!

Yep
Tax then to death and then they just close up shop and then the DR looses tax revenue and 100's of Domincans loose their jobs.

SMART!!

Fortunately I do not believe that this report is accurate,,and in fact the reopening of the mine is a joint venture operation with the Dominican Government involved. I do not know the details but it would be handy if there was a press release from the government ..They never give tax holidays unless there is an economic benefit in return ,,and this would be much more than work for some dominican labourers.
