Sheik Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Carlos Morales.
SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic yesterday established diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven states located in the southeast of the Arabian peninsula in the Persian Gulf, whose main source of income is petroleum.
Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales signed the agreement for the Dominican State, whereas for the United Arab Emirates signed his par, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who’s also Prime Minister of Abu Dhabi, one of the seven Emirates.
The signature of the communiqué takes place four days after president Leonel Fernandez met with United Arab Emirates crown prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

No it's not that it is simple that for a poor country those relations don't come cheap, unless you name an ambassador that's serving already in a country close by.
Balaguer had the same scheme a few years ago attracting Chinese citizens from mainland China and who knows where else and making them Dominican citizens quickly so they will obtain a Dominican passport and then get a US visa and on to the USA.
Never forget a scene at the Kennedy airport of a China man with a Dominican passport that didn't speak any English or Spanish
and he was arguing with the ticket agent to whom he could only say the words: my son my son!
Pointing to I guess was his son who was traveling with him and needed help.
I guess we could have some new Arab brothers migrate and bring some needed investments with them. They will be welcome for sure.

You ignorant peasants!!!
Under Leonel DR's GDP has gone from US $9B to US $90B...
Dubai (the most important member state in the U.A.E) is the fastest growing economy. Dubai Ports is the largest operator of commercial ports in the world...
If I were LF, I'd go one further and offer automatic Dominican Citizenship to all and any Emirati...
I live in Canada and I am just salivating at the prospect of getting a piece of that action...

Dubai is one of the emrities. They have set them selves up as a tourist and banking hub between europe and Asia. The other Emirites surrounding Dubai may be strict in dubai it is all relaltive. In the hotels you can still eat and snmoke during Ramadan. You just do not eat in publi until after dark.
Every big hotel has several different them clubs where you can find companionship for a price.
Every ethnic group is represented there. Russian, Chinese African and Indian all there. Lights are on 24 hours and the AC works.
I can assure expats do not like Dubai for the mosques and Museams.

jonbonz,
That is a waste of a perfectly good explanation. Josean is a Peasant and does not understand.
