Santo Domingo.- Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana C. por A. (CND), makers of the top-selling Presidente beer, obtained an affirmed 'B+' for long-term corporate credit and senior unsecured debt ratings from Standard & Poor's Ratings Services, reports Forbes from information provided by the publication Thomson Financial.
“The outlook is stable and reflects S&P's expectations that CND will be able to maintain its solid business profile by consolidating its leading position in the Dominican Republic and increasing its participation in the international markets while improving its financial profile,” Forbes said.
Cerveceria Nacional’s ratings “reflect the shift in its financial policy toward using debt aggressively to finance its corporate restructuring,” notes the report released Wednesday in New York.
Forbes, quoting S&P, also said there’s an uncertainty about the company “achieving its targeted deleveraging path,” after “weaker-than-expected results in 2007.”

Weaker than expected" does that mean the public is tiring of their piggy profiteering and beginning to see that drinking beer has nothing to do with national pride...does that mean they will lower their prices? You better believe it and fast...Does that mean they are scared....You better believe it...as in all things in the DR most of these local big products are owned by Oligarchs ....the sooner they face the real world the sooner the public will benefit....competition lowers prices

The above brewery has been a government cash cow one way or the other since the Trujillios owned it ...it deserves no special status and the government can collect their taxes from all the brands imported or other wise...A level playing field and let us see what happens

I see that some of you really do not know this company. I worked there and I can say: They make and market a perfect beer but more important is that they contribute and support the cultural and social environment of the whole country. I have never seen a company in the thrid world where the employees are treated as were they all part of the same family. I am proud I was part of that family.

lets see what happens without Miller around .......you must be with Heineken...so your association is suspect ....supporting the social and cultural environment is part of beer marketing through out the world ,God only knows there is enough profit in it.....now they will have to spend even more now that they have some real competition from a company that is even bigger than Heineken I seldom root for the big guy over the little guy but in this case its about time the people had choice many choices

This confirms my feeling that you are not aware of the beer market, Miller and Heineken are not part of this Company. As far as I know competitors not able to get a decent market share, and they realize that without any support from American or European breweries.

this only confirms my feeling that you are or were an employee of Heineken at one time .......Heineken was a small percentage owner at one time just as Miller was a large percentage owner at one time of the makers of Presidente beer....we are happy you enjoyed your stay in the DR,and hope it was not you meaning Heineken who taught CDN their business ethics.....I quote "“ This is simply unacceptable: that major beer suppliers colluded to up prices and to carve up markets among themselves[] ” this was said by the EU—EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes ....during Heinekens price fixing scandal last year....Heineken was subsequently fined millions of euros....well anyway this goes to prove the point that the beer industry is run by a bunch of crooks only one step above the cigarette peddlers....so no more sanctimony P.S. how did you enjoy working for Freddy
