SANTO DOMINGO. - National Young Businesspersons Association (ANJE) president Pablo Piantini said they don’t support a new tax reform since the problem is of government spending and not of revenue.

He said with previous tax reform the Government proposed an austerity plan that wasn’t implemented and despite that expenses rose and there was a surplus. "The President-elect said there wouldn’t be a tax reform. As ANJE we feel that its alteration isn’t necessary apart from which the business sector and the population generally aren’t in condition of withstanding it."

Interviewed in the program Diario Libre A.M., Piantini said a constitutional reform is needed as long as it’s done thinking about the country’s future and not about solving particular interests such as if the (presidential) reelection goes or not.

The ANJE president said the country has urgencies which need attending by all the political forces. "Concentrating on aspects which aren’t the food and energy crises would be catastrophic."

Piantini said it’s time to seek concrete solutions to the external pressures which affect the country, so there is a need to confront the internal problems. “ANJE has warned of the importance that different sectors of society sit down to seek plans and solutions which isn’t limited to four years.

He said if the Government is willing to listen to the different sectors and political forces, “a better alternative can be reached."
