SANTO DOMINGO.- Representatives of organizations of Dominican Republic’s free zone, agriculture, and manufacturing industries agreed to work with a common agenda aimed at bolstering production and promote exports, to confront the country’s trade deficit with its main partners, by seeking conditions similar to those given their pares in those countries, and to contribute to maintain macroeconomic stability.

The heads of the Dominican Industries Association (AIRD), Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) and the Dominican Free Zones Association (ADOZONA) said successfully confront the international crisis as well as the internal market’s weaknesses; policies need to be implemented so the producers of goods can raise productivity and competitiveness nationwide.

"Dominican society has understood that only by strengthening the national production we’ll be able to confront the international surroundings in which there’s an irrational rise in the prices of petroleum derivatives and products of massive consumption, as well as a food shortage. So as producers of goods we must work together to bolster our production and improve our sectors’ competitiveness," the organizations’ leaders said.

They said they’ll continue in their permanent session, to give continuity to the Plan they are drafting.

Among others AIRD president Manuel Diez Cabral; ADOZONA president Fernando Capellan, and JAD president Jose Ramon Peralta were n the meeting where the agreement was reached.
