Santo Domingo.- The absence of diplomatic relations.prevents Dominican Republic from fully exploiting China’s powerful economy and its many production areas.

Even so, in 2007 bilateral trade between China and the Dominican Republic reached $600 million with an increase of 23% over the previous year according to official statistics. These are the figures that Chinese officials understand can multiply established diplomatic relations.

Last year bilateral trade with China reached US$102,600 million and China investment in Latin America exceeded US$7,800 million.

One obstacle is the China’s government makes these establish diplomatic relations Dominican Republic to break its relations with Taiwan, to understand that part of its territory, and that there is only one China.

"Comminust" China is not attempting to dominate the world, rather China is attempting to dominate a part of China it doesn't dominate.

It's similar to the ongoing attempts of the bourgeois regime in the USA to dominate Florida.

It's evident that China will dominate Taiwan before the US regime dominates Florida.

Edward there are different forms of absorption one is by force ,,,,,that is the one everybody wants to avoid......Nationalist China is probably the largest owner of businesses in the Republic of China so it is really a complicated dance

I'm proud of the DR for supporting Taiwan, the PRC is a very repressive country. If the US government wasn't so hypocritical in its foreign policy it would boycott the Olympics.

I agree D, but the Dr is in a golden situation we can play both countries against each other while getting what we want from both of them(for a time at least) until we get what we really want from the winner(I don’t care care witch one wins).That my friend is using leverage to ur advantage.

Taiwan is part of mainland China, and Taibet is as well. Anyways, I'm proud that the DR government hasn't turned its back to a friend, Taiwan. But we all know that diplomatic ties with mainland China is desired. Also, the people's republic of china may be communist, but it is really a very capitalist nation. There's no other way China would have grown the way it has without capitalism. You leave a democratic nation like the U.S. without capitalism and it would just be another 3rd world country, the same goes to communist China.. Capitalism is king when done right that is.
