Edenorte distribuitor will be divided.

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican State-owned power companies grouped in CDEEE yesterday announced a plan to mitigate the rise in fuel prices, whch includes focusing the subsidy for the poorer population through the Blackouts Reduction Program (PRA), the delivery of 3 million low-consumption light bulbs and a breakup of the distributors.
In a press conference CDEEE vice president Radhamés Segura said some points of the Business Council (Conep) report were “dis-phased” and discarded the elimination of the subsidy on electricity, because many Dominicans cannot pay the bill at the current rate.
The Plan breaks up Edenorte into the Santiago, Puerto Plata, La Vega, San Francisco Mao and Valverde subsectors, whereas EdeSur is divided into Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Azua and San Juan. EdeEste’s operations will be announced in the next few days.
Those divisions are to become small distributors which will take over the billing and lower direct losses.
Meanwhile the PRA will no longer operate geographically and instead focused on houses, in some cases resorting to the solidarity card the Government issues to people of low income.
Also the distribution of around 3 million of a total of 10 million low consumption light bulbs begins mid month.

[After three years of brilliant and sustainable success, the Cuban energy revolution is no longer a Caribbean joke.]
"Cubans' work for the rational use and saving of energy was discussed in the meeting at the 19th World Oil Congress by Cuban Basic Industry Minister Yadira Garcia, who explained the island's effort in substituting outdated electrical appliances, light bulbs, water pumps and more efficient devices."
"She mentioned the change of over 23 million electrical appliances and others used in homes, factories, institutions and all kind of facilities [including 3 million rice cookers, GC and pappabowie]."
"Parallel to this was a national campaign to spread and promote energy saving and the development of renewable energies, the minister pointed out.'

Farewell, blackouts. Goodbye.
Electrical Union workers solved the problem, not a buck-passing bourgeoisie.

The strategy and tactics of Cuban energy revolution aim at lowering DEMAND ("savings," if anthonyC will let us use the word) and increasing SUPPLY as well as relocating the SUPPLY of electrical energy.
The Cuban workers installed into the national network a big bunch of deisel and fuel oil generator "plants" about the size of shipping containers. Their miniaturization is a result of cutting-edge technology.
These generator-containers consume significantly less fuel than the wasteful thermoelectric plants which are so popular with the buck-passing bourgeoisie.
Since the containers are fairly portable, they can be located very close to the consumers. Thus, losses in transmission are lessened considerably.
After all, almost 20% of energy in lost in transmission in inefficient distribution systems favored by the bourgeoisie.
The containers can be easily and cheaply switched on or off during or after peak hours.
Some resorts in the DR got them NOW, too.

The lights [or electricity], telecommunications, food, water, oil, and the central bank are strategic industries and institutions that US imperialists and their native slaves in pinned-striped suits always strive to own and control.
Since these things are necessaries or indispensables, the imperialists know that once they get their hands on them or any one of them, the imperialists can squeeze the country, the people, and the consumers.
"Imperialist, why are you squeezing us? Don't you know that we love you?" the imperialist victims ask.
"Well, if you love me so much, then pay me more for these things I ... or my hired-help ... own and control in your country" the imperialist replies.
"Mr. imperialist! You're squeezing us too tight already, but we still love you and will always love you no matter how tight you squeeze."
"This very kind and friendly of you. You better prepare yourselves for another squeeze."

Belial,
Good God man, give it a rest !! Look to your own money-pocketing government for the reasons that there is no reliable power plants suppling the majority of the people. Huge companies ( not owned by the imperialist pigs ) are stealing the electricity with apparent approval of the government. And all of the outside foriegn investors give up when they realize that Leonel is only taking the money and padding his and his political appointees pockets. Come out of your hatred fueled fog and realize that it's YOUR politicians screwing you !! The US is not the culprit here.

There is only one culprit as far as belial is concerned. His only heroes are left wing nut jobs (of course he can't name one country using his ludicrous fantasy that is a success). I am sure in Cuba it is much easer to keep up with electrical demands because the citizenry can't afford to buy any electrical appliances.
More importantly and to the point: When the power company was initially split up this led to 3 times the number of employees with much less efficiency and now instead of one board of directors, with 8 government cronies feasting on public funds (with no previous electric management experience) we have at least 5 boards with 5 times as many feeding at the public trough.

Buck-passing.
AES, US capital, and Spanish capital fronting for US capital ... and the like ... are delighted with the buck passing.
Perhaps ...
Next, you will tell us that the US imperialists are not trying to get their hands of every drop of drinking or fresh water in Latin America and the Caribbean before the imperialists turn the lights out.

Here's the way the system seems to work or not work.
When there's a blackout, the LF phones and asks "What's going on?"
"Not much," the electrical industry responds.
"Why?" the LF asks.
"It's the distributors' fault, LF" the generators say.
"They're lying, it's the generators' fault," the distributors counter.
"Every time there's a blackout, you all say the same thing," LF recalls.
"LF, this is AES. We got out of the distributing business in May this year when we dumped EdeEste because they ain't no good. Now, AES is doing nothing but generating at full capacity at our plants at AES Andres and ITABO I and II. We give the distributors what they need, but they somehow manage to lose it or steal it like Enron," the top generator in the DR accuses.
"LF, AES is lying. They bill for the energy but they don't deliver it, so we ain't got anything to distribute," the distributors defend.
Buck passing.
Let the workers run the system. They'll fix it.

I believe they opened a plant this year down there which does something like that.
It uses a cheap and plentiful fuel ... excrement or, more politely, sewage.
I hear this plant is discharging energy at a record pace.
I'll recommend some of the posters in this forum to the plant.
Rice cookers which save a whole lot of energy are the key to the success of an energy revolution, provided the lights are on and there is rice to put in the cookers.
And, more abstractly, there is a dialectical interrelatedness about rice cookers and the energy revolution. The energy-saving rice cookers enable us to buy more energy and energy-saving revolution enable us to buy more rice.

Yeah Belial, let the workers do it !!
In the case of the "Chinese Electric Meters" being used in the DR by EdNorte, well we went through 8 of those outstanding examples of Chinese manufacture in just 5 months. None of them worked as they were suppose to and had to be replaced. Then there were those wonderful fluurescent light bulbs that were sold andso many of them exploded (causing injury and fires) they had to be removed from the market. Additionally, what about all those shipments of contaminated foodstuffs, toys, and meatproducers from wonderful Communist China and the Workers Paradise who manufactured them.
Sure, let the workers solve the problems and we'll all end up in the hospital, bankrupt by inferior products, have our homes burned to the ground, etc., etc.
Your UTOPIA has never been better off and is so much better organized than the poor imperialist nations it's a pity.
You fool, get a life and face facts instead of whining about sucking hind teat all your life.

I am still trying to figuer out how breaking up the electric company into more companies will benefit the populace and reduce rates and make them more efficiient.
All that can happen is that the operating cost of these companies will now employ more relatives and ten fold the operating costs.
You then have ten companies that can waste more money which will make oversight of them more difficult and nontransparent.
Way to go Teflon Fernandez.
