SANTO DOMINGO. - The Dominican telephone company (Codetel) praised the Dominican Telecom Institute’s (Indotel) decision in its dispute with Dgtec, ordering the modification of the deflection of calls through the so-called Dgphone service.

The subsidiary of the Mexico-based America Movil also said starting today it will abide by the resolution that orders "to reprogram the access of certain numerical blocks Indotel assigned to Dgtec."

Codetel said it will continue studying Indtoel’s resolution thorough a more technical and legal point of view, and reiterates its adherence to the decisions of the authorities.

In a statement, Codetel notes that the resolution says Dgphone’s call deflection works differently from  other similar services, allowing the use of the service even when it’s deactivated or when the user isn’t connected to the Internet.
