Santo Domingo.- Bananas, cassava, plantains and other crops were destroyed, several numerous towns were flooded and families had to be evacuated, as Tropical Storm Fay’s rains and winds rushed across different parts of the country Friday and Saturday.
In Santo Domingo province barrio La Barquita, many people were unable to return home as they were still unwater Monday morning and the Meteorology Office predicts high termperatures and only isolated showers for most of the country.
The Public Works Ministry said it began to dispatch work crews and equipment to restore traffic and repair the damages the storm caused to roadways.

TROPICAL STORMS and HURRICANES are an essential part of the HYDROLOGIC CYCLE in the Caribbean ecosystem. They are also an important part of the GLOBAL ENERGY BALANCE. While they can be DANGEROUS .. they also perform a VERY USEFUL FUNCTION. A "FREE SERVICE" of NATURE.

Not to discount the damages left in our beloved Quisqueya; But, I noticed something peculiar on this thread:

Mamoncillo? Mamoncillo? Oyeme, Acere. La verda que se ha colao un Cubiche, Vaya, hablando ñanigo en la Yuma! Alabao!
In my country we call them Limoncillos, or in the southern provinces they're called Quenepas. But, never, (as far as I'm concerned) mamoncillos. I didn't hear that word 'mamoncillo', till I met the gusanos in El Escambray, aka la 137 y Broadway, a long time ago; Tu sabe, Camarada?

Raul Martinez? Another Liberal.
Hialeah? Isn't that where the Dominicans from Allahpatta dream of moving to when their welfare checks come in?

Raul Martinez, a Liberal? My point is not his political persuasion, that's not my focus; But rather the despotic, knot-it-all, mentality of these people who fled Cuba.
They couldn't fight Castro their bogeyman, yet they try to control the outside-world as is they were so capable?
Mayors,Governors, Senators, CEO's, they do it all; Yet, Castro still has your Island in bondage: 50 years and counting. If more Cubans wer liberal, perhaps they'd "liberate" their own country, and stop being so succesful in everything except in taking out the garbage .
"La Yuma". The balsero's dream.....leave and everything will be fine......

You want no trees - than go to India; no trees there for a thousand years and dinner is cooked with cow dung.
