Residents in other sectors of Santo Domingo complain of four to six hour blackouts every day, especially in the afternoon and night when electricity demad is higher.

This cannot be true. Rhadmes Segura assured us that after the election there would be no problem with electricity.

Even if you pay your bills, you still won't have power.. It's not like here in the states, if you don't pay they cut YOUR power off, not your neighborhood. So it hasn nothing to do with an individual paying, it has to do with the government first, then the power plants & then the people.

Back where i live in the province of Mao the coming and going of lights is fair. The light will come and go 2-3 times a day then at night right before sleep it comes usually for a descent amount of time. I agree Leonel should keep his promise and fix the energy crisis before end of his term. I believe leonel will keep his promise and as i heard leonel is doing something about it but in the mean time people should do what ever it takes to push the goverment in fixing it because its retarded that you have to pay for electricity when you barely ever recieve in the first place.

Even worse in India - when politicians allow free import of energy hungry appliances can you expect. How do you earn the money to buy the coal, lpg etc. for electrity you don't really need - 12 hour shifts in shirt factories.
