Wow, now I get it. I never understood it before... that "diversifying our foreign trade" meant ILLEGAL DRUG TRADE!

Wow, now it makes perfect sense why the RD Gov plays both sides of the drug game! It also makes sense why the US Embassy anti-narcotics unit is so impotent and ineffective!

Given all the negative spillover costs of organized crime and drugs the RD Gov and our US representatives in the RD are tanquilo as more drugs are shipped to the USA, Canada & UK.

Well, come to my barrio there is a major organized crime led by the PICHARDO BROTHERS but protected by local police, DNCD & US Diplomats where the Tigueres have accumulated wealth to buy arms, build real estate projects & a distribution network. If you are in Santiago then stop by Ensanche Caonabo (Los Platanitos) near the Cibao Stadium & Children's Hospital on the side near the elementary school...on Calle A Transversal they run a smaller drug house up the hill from the BLUE HONDA ACCORD as for CHOPPO!

A large portion of the commonwealth countries that are members of the Brittish Commonwealth are African nations and others include Asian, (including India), Caribbean, South American, and some Oceanic nations apart from the UK, Canada, and Australia. So I'm thinking the Prince is not going to blink an eye at a "Darky" being a member. Apart from that, I don't know any stats off the top of my head but if you've been to London anytime recently it would appear that half the people living there are Pakistani, so I'm sure he's looked out a window or two and seen dark skin people....

The British, the biggest refine thieves ever! Dominican Republic should not get involved with England at all. See in history what they have done to all the countries (with dark people) they dealt with.
The Brits are the biggest smooth operator fat thieves. Look at what they did to the Palestinians, Chinese, Indians, etc. took their land and gave it to the Israelis (I do like Israelis) but my point is they have not respect for other nations, they only want to steal. Look at what they did to Spain in colonial time, paid pirates to steal from Spain. I do believe their nation always envy Spain, and their descendants, always looking at what to take away from us. And like father like son, so did the USA, taking the Caribbean, then part of Mexico.
Lautaro, well said. They want to introduce their products into our markets, they now how much we consume.

Some of you guys should calm down. I don't trust the brits either and I want them out of Gibraltar, Malvinas, Sandwish islands, etc. Also, they want the DR to "give" them the dominican territory north of Puerto Plata (waters), you know that place where Spanish experts will help the Dominican Republic search for oil in March of 2009 (or is it May?). But this is business and we should look for other markets for dominican products (no, not drugs you morons).

For what trade? They possess all the produce they need from their Caribbean islands and everywhere else around the glove. Actually I think they want to introduce themselves in order to study our agronomy so they now how to defeat our produce commerce. Perhaps you want them to introduce them the mangu, I can really picture them eating platanos!

Sorry about spoiling your party, abc, but on this case, one person's hero is another one's butcher, a phrase that applies neatly in the case of Drake and Santo Domingo, a city which he burned and pillaged, all for the sake of profit:

Rumour has it that it was Spanish spies, not too loyal to King Phillip that betrayed the plot - anyway wasn't it the brave Powhatans who showed that mudering Spanish might be a good idea somewhere near the Bay of Santa Maria. Of course Spanish missionaries just recited the bible to the natives in Latin but the Noble King James produced a version of the Bible and missionaries taught English so people could read KJV for themselves.

Of couse the Spanish did a bit of murdering themselves:

I'm thinking no one on here has even read anything to see what the British Commonwealth of nations is. It's not even led by the British Queen other than as a figurehead. It's 53 nations mostly current and former colonies or commonwealth nations of the U.K. There's an Indian guy as the current head of the group. But hey.. let's just not trade cause they're associated with the U.K.... that's swift.... but hey maybe the DR should take it a step further and just not trade with anyone who's not a Caribbean nation... or with anyone who's govenment has done things in the past we don't agree with.. oh wait then the DR couldn't trade with anyone.... (rolling my eyes at 3/4 of the comments on here.. )

The Brits are like crabgrass. Once established hard to get rid of.
"It’s 53 nations mostly current and former colonies or commonwealth nations of the U.K." Uh Colonies?
The Brits wants to get their hands on something we don't know, and are using the Common Wealth as a front. They seeing how the Spanish have been investing in DR, again, again they want to take away from the Spanish our ancestors.
See what they did to India. It took the Indians few hundred years to stop the famine the blood suckers "chupacabras" left them with.
I do not mind their tourists. I do not want DR to do business with them. The least you know they will establish themselves with a monopoly, will instigate revolts or a civil war and will give half DR to the Haitians so DR can not defend themselves from the Brits.
Brits bring the "fucu" with them.
