SANTO DOMINGO.- The Santo Domingo Metro’s pre commercial operations concluded yesterday, after 15 days of free service to riders, and which officials described as successful.
Starting Wednesday Transport Reform Office (Opret) technicians will take up to four days to evaluate the trains’ operation, said the entity’s Communications director, Leonel Carrasco.
He said after that Opret director Diandino Peña will provide the country with the conclusions reached by the technicians, as well as the date in which the commercial operation would begin.
Carrasco said he evaluations will also determine the exact number of people that used the Metro during the holiday period. “It was hundreds of thousands, it was overflowed and people seemed as if they already had experience because they behaved in a very civilized manner.”
The official said riders assimilated all the established norms, “so much that we are surprised and we congratulate the population for that wonderful behavior.”
Although most of the users were satisfied with the service, some did have some complaints, especially the lack of clear maps to show the neighborhoods near the stations.
