PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic. - The group Cap Cana, S.A. announced a reconstruction process for its US$250 million in international bonds that mature in 2013, and since December takes the necessary steps to conclude the operation on those issues during January.

The reconstruction entails the issuing of a new series of titles to replace the previous ones, and begun in December by the company Weston Funding LLC, jointly with a public offer on the part of Weston, to buy bonds from those investors who prefer to cash them in.

The reconstruction entails certain requirements, as there’s a proposal to modify the original bond, among them, a deposit of US$12 million in an escrow account to guarantee the next dividend payment, expected in May. Cap Cana requested a waiver for that requirement on the original bond on December 19.

The process to obtain the number required for the consent of the diverse bondholders during the Christmas and New Year celebrations made it necessary to extend the term to respond to that request for consent to mid January.

Cap Cana said so far most of the bondholders that have responded have agreed to the renegotiation, and it’s part of a general reconstruction strategy undertaken by the Board of Directors, that aims to renegotiate with the bondholders now.

It said international experts and investors agree that Cap Cana is taking the initiative against external events and will be among the first companies in the region to successfully overcome the difficulties.

The group that develops the country’s largest resort said when the process concludes, it’ll remain as one of the strongest companies, despite the overall effects of the global crisis.

"Dominican Republic is ruling in the Caribbean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Yes Rubi, I agree with you on that one. The DR is ruling the Caribbean in the category of CORRUPTION and Bring Corruption to the Finest of Art forms. Even Chavez, Alan Garcia, along with many others in LA can learn from the silver-tounged maestro himself, LF. Sad, very sad. I would wait to see what will happen to Cap Cana, as world economies are in flux and that itself, will affect the outcome of CC's future.

This is the death bell for this project and the fat lady will sing!

They actually crapped out before the financial collapse. You just didn't see it. Pennies on the dollar is what this property is going to sell for in a short time. It was nothing but overpriced hype to begin with. 3 times the value pricing isn't going to cut it no matter who you are. This is NOT the Donald who can actually pull this off. They were romancing everyone from Casino operators to Baseball Players to try to get this done but there was NO BEEF there to begin with.

It is one thing to Make a place for AI's and another to bring the rich and famous where you have NO CULTURE, NO CITY and nothing to offer except Beach.

You are comparing Cancun with Punta Cana's Cap Cana?

Show me a project anywhere similar to Cap Cana in Cancun Mr. Mouth.

Just out of curiosity is Playa Grande Golf Course a decent course? I live 6 miles away in Cabrera. I still have a farm, condos and land in Sosua/Cabarete but don't live there. For a guy that knows everything I would have assumed that you would have known that! LOL

Are they still constantly moving you to different hospitals for treatments? I hope you get better!

They were both long beaches with nobody living on them mr Escot..thats the comparison and that is the competition ..the Mayan Riviera had luxury properties ie Ritz long before Punta Cana /Cap Cana ....Can Cun had at least a ten year head start and has many more hotel rooms.....Escot I thought living where you are you would be more into bowling not golf
