The guests were also shown Craft Training Center facilities, whose basic objective  is to develop the faculties and capacities of the inhabitants in the communities near the mine, in an effort to significantly improve the quality of their lives.

People & Power - People Vs. Barrick Gold - 22 July 09

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptVdGi86deQ

It's children who play in the rivers and streams.....

then there is this.....

BARRICK GRABS POWER PLANTS. Barrick Gold, the mining company that will exploit the gold reserves in Pueblo Viejo, Cotui, purchased the Monte Rio (100MW) and Seaboard (116MW) energy generators, reports Hoy (Aug. 10, 2009). Power would be used by Barrick beginning in 2011 when they are expected to begin mining.

There are concerns that taking 216MW of energy from the public energy pool will have a negative impact on the already deficient supply.

I comment on this awhile ago, but I am now against it.. I thought that they said that they would clean the river polluted During the Balaguer era...
But I, in no way have any trust in Leonel Fernandez or any deal that he makes...

Plus research has soon that there is no good mining in the world.
