Santo Domingo. - The bank Leon posted third quarter earnings of RD$153.3 million, or 90% higher than RD$80.7 million in the year ago period, attributing the results to improvements in strategic initiatives implemented since the beginning of the year.
Banco Leon said it bolstered its strategy to attract depositors and opened additional branches in 2009, when its gross credit portfolio grew 8%, from RD$17.6 billion in the third quarter in 2008, to RD$18.9 billion in the same period this year.
It noted other indicators such as its liquidity index of almost 36%, a 9% jump from the same year ago period.
It added that its portfolio of assets rose from RD$30.7 billion in 2008 to RD$32.9 billion for the third quarter close.
