The yearly pilgrimage is about to begin.
Zoom Picture

Santo Domingo.- The Customs Agency on Wednesday announced the facilities provided during the year end holidays to Dominican who live abroad, to bring gifts to their relatives and friends in the country.

The same as last year, Customs will allow free of taxes up to US$2,000 worth of items brought in their luggage.

The measure is in effect from November 30 to January 7, 2010.

Remember the days when this pilgrimage included folks with chickens in their carry-ons?
Or the large quonset hut that used to be SDQ?

Looking at the oversize luggage, one would have to gather the picture is old. In today's world, you couldn't travel with such heavy luggage without having to pay high cost for overage; some airline companies wont even accept your luggage if it weighs more than 70 lbs.

Those privileged enough to travel business class don't have much to worry about, however. This is further evidence that we are not all equal, just in case you hadn't already realized that fact.
