SANTO DOMINGO.- Contrary to what’s widely believed Enriquillo lake five years ago was 15 meters below its 1963 level, which proves that the recent flooding is part of a process to recover the land snatched by humans during that period.

The geologist Wilson R. Martinez affirmation and stressed the importance of studies of the Enriquillo basin, since the fossilized reefs around the lake are the unique to the period known as the Holocene.  “The lake isn’t flooding these bordering areas for the first time; instead it’s reclaiming the spaces which have always been part of its sub aquatic dominion.”

“The fossilized reefs around the lake basin are the only known Holocene period fossils exposed above sea level in the entire planet Earth,” he said, adding that during the Glacial Era of that period 10,000 years ago the planet’s temperatures rose and the ice layer melted, which led to a higher sea level.

The scholar, who has a PhD in Geology from Indiana’s Tulane University, will dictate a conference in the Academy of Sciences on Wednesday.

Global Warming has stopped... there's evidence for this. though i still believe that we should do as much as we can to maintain the planet clean and natural until we can afford an outer planet system.

So there was global warming 10k years ago-really!

Since USA didn't exist as a nation back then, who are we going to blame for the sudden warming? I wonder what that lunatic, Al Gore, would have to say about this. Perhaps abc and VivaCuba could tell us.

Anyway, those of you who so much hate the USA, and who are clearly succeeding at demeaning it, will have to do a little bit of soul searching. You have all better learn Chinese and Hindi, for that is what you've traded English for when you betrayed the hand that kept you fed.

Hope you are all happy now....abc, please don't reply. VivaCuba, ditto for you.

@CarlosFranco:

For your information, the Nord- and Sud- Poles are evaporating at a virtual speed.
We are counting on an ocean level's increase faster than what we could ever think of.

So you can imaging what is coming, New York will be not longer New York, Malediven will be swept.
The most countries will be losing lands in the ocean.

I'm scare !!!

tschotschua,

You are in Koblenz and you are scared about ocean levels! My God, you should be praying that the torrential rains from a few years back don't come back! I got caught in the storm on my way from Luxembourg to Russelsheim, where I was to meet with Opel personnel on some engine management systems I was selling them, and it just wasn't pretty. Houses were under water and the whole area was just about impassable.

I often come by your area, flying by in the autobahn. Usually, I stay at the Frankfurt Airport Sheraton hotel and do the Frankfurt-Mainz-Koblenz-Russelsheim-Frankfurt loop at least once a day- flat out, of course. I love it!

The worst thing people in Germany have to worry about is those overly powerful labor unions and the green party's ascension to power.

Anyway, please don't let those darn storms ruin the great roads.

Hang tough!

MJEV.
