Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD) on Tuesday began implementing the Export Platform, where a group of companies will prepare and supply their products in Miami’s market.
The project is part of an technical cooperation agreement between CEI-RD, the Dominican Republic American Chamber of Commerce, the Pan-American Development Foundation (PADF), the U.S. Agency for Development’s Rural Economic Diversification (USAID-RED), the Agriculture Ministry and the Inter-American Agribusiness Cooperation Institute (IICA).
CEI-RD assistant director Acelis Angeles said the producers will be provided training during four months, during which they can validate and prepare their products, conduct a market study, and obtain a contract for sales in Miami. She said it’s a great advantage for the country and participant companies, since they’ll obtain new customers abroad.
The official said it’s the Agro-export Platform’s third edition with 25 agribusiness companies taking part, including clusters, associations and cooperatives.
IICA’s Miami representative Daniel Rodriguez said the program contains five modules aimed at developing an export business plan.
He said the businesspersons will learn of the importance of planning for the export process, market research and a marketing plan, production and the ways to adapt products to their destination, financial aspects and definition of costs.

Bravo Bravo Bravo .....this is great news for everyone as these people will get a chance to see the Quality of their competition which is very high from other exporting countries in central/south America .....our levels of quality control will have to be elevated considerably to compete as the export market will not suffer junk agriculture and standards which have prevailed here in the past are not good .Standards will have to be elevated considerably to compete .with new equipment and techniques and less insecticides ...we will all win with the improved quality and new varieties .....this is the future of this country .....I can hardly wait for the asparagus and artichokes ....this is good news

Now hows that for some positive feed back!
