Santo Domingo.-  Agriculture minister Salvador Jiménez confirmed Tuesday that president Leonel Fernandez and his Haitian par René Préval, will meet Tuesday 24 of March in the Dominican municipality Comendador, on the border of countries that share Hispaniola island.

The official said the chief executives will discuss bilateral topics, among them the lifting of the ban on chicken and eggs from Dominican Republic, in effect since 2007 on suspicion of being infected with the bird flu virus.

He added that education and agribusiness will also be discussed.

I bet the birds of bad luck are thinking about how to start the insults and diatribes spitiing.
I predict we will not see too many posts.
Cooporation and problems solving between these two countries do not attract the attention of the usual hatemongers of these forum.
Let see which hatemonger and from which side of the border is going to post the first ignorant comment.

The more Haiti's economy improves, the better for the Dominican economy.
Let's just hope Haiti gets more international aid in important quantities and all the talk lately just
doesn't remain more talk. The New York Times yesterday referred to the aloofness of the Haitian diaspora in sending money to Haiti saying "The Haitian diaspora can do a lot more for its stricken homeland by sending home what is really needed: money" and called on them to be more charitable to their countrymen instead of always expecting others to pass the bucket.
The ban on Dominican chicken and eggs was installed as a political move and only benefits the
few elite Haitian businessmen that want a piece of the action. Contraband chicken and eggs are still
being exported en masse from DR through the porous Haitian border.
etiennc01 instead of talking to yourself why don't you say something positive instead of just mumbling? 3 postings and just saying garbage!

Leonel is probably the best chance for Haitian to work out all the mutual problems the island is facing on both side let's hope that Preval will take advantage.

I really think it's a positive thing for the heads of both sides of the island to get together. DR has the right to complain about Haitians crossing its border illegally. On the other hand, Haiti has the right also to complain about the mistreatment of Haitian workers in DR. I hope it's a productive meeting where the concerns of both nations can be addressed.

THE SUGGESTING AGENDA:

Illegal Border crossing
Drug Trafficking
Economy-Import-Export-Trade
Mistreatment of Haitian Workers
Cultural exchange (Emphasis on commonality rather than differences)
Exploitation of Haitian children in DR
Stateless (Dominicans of Haitian descent should be issued a DR birth certificate)
DR to stop supporting coup d'etat plotters (A stable Haiti = less Haitians crossing the border)
Promotion of a Haitian-Dominican Day (Festival on the border).

Good luck Haiti ! Good Luck DR !

Preval taking advantage or maybe solving some issues!!!!

Preval is in no position to demand anything fom DR, He is lucky enough that the
goverment hasn't start to deport Haitians by the thousands yet.

Part of the discussion should be:

Human Trafficking (Dominican soldiers accepting bribes from Haitians to let them cross the border as well as getting paid by Domincan women to cross the border to go to Haiti as prostitutes)

Preval should be very firm on his demands. I can provide him with all the documents/proof/evidence that he will need to prove his points. I hope that a representative from The United Nations and some International Human Rights organizations can be in attendance as well. If Preval wants me to be there, it's a deal.

Constipator:

Do You ever eat your own excrement???

Where in the hell you get all these retarded, dumb, stupid ideas about conspiracy theories against Your "hell" country.

If there is a country that will benefit from this situation will be Dominican Republic so We
don't have to deal with your mediocre people in our country making us look bad for every
drama, victim incident that You are looking to call people's attention.

Preval should be quiet and take a low profile since He has the disavantage card on his
side and more to loose, We don't need Haiti and Haitians, Haitians need our help so
you don't starve to death eating dirt cookies.

Leonel F might be a flexible, easy going president but I don't think that He is so dumbass
to be lenient with measures that will messed up our country and will benefit the Haitian
agenda only.

Stop dreaming!!!!!!

Liberator SHUT your hole! Haiti is the one that prohibits Dominican meats products from getting into Haiti (despite the theft of Dominican bovine by Haitian garbages) while the Haitian suffered hunger and despair from the hurricanes!
Only stupid Preval starved its people and then proceeded to pay for expensive imports from Florida and Turkey!
It is Haiti who dumped 2 million people in DR! It is the Haitian who lowered salaries and displaced the Dominican from construction and agricultural jobs. YOU ARE NO IN POSITION TO DEMAND! Only stupid Leonel is wasting time with these septic holes who are jealous and envious of Dominican progress! You get the hell out of my country, then we talk! Leonel is just humiliating DR by talking to these holes that always bite the hands that feed and protect them like MINUSTAH who is getting attacked by the Haitian! Haitian prefer the caos of gangs!

Haitian children sold as cheap labourers and prostitutes for little more than £50Dominican Republic accused of turning a blind eye to thriving trade in youngsters

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2005/sep/22/garyyounge.mainsection

Gary Younge in Santo Domingo The Guardian, Thursday September 22 2005 On market day in Dajabón, a bustling Dominican town on the Haitian border, you can pick up many bargains if you know where to look. You can haggle the price of a live chicken down to 40 pesos (72p); wrestle 10lb of macaroni from 60 to 50 pesos; and, with some discreet inquiries, buy a Haitian child for the equivalent of £54.22.

Haiti child slavery and prostitution U.S. report
http://www.dol.gov/ilab/media/reports/iclp/tda2004/haiti.htm

The ILO estimated that 21.8 percent of children ages 10 to 14 years in Haiti were working in 2002.[1937] In general, due to high unemployment and job competition, there is very little child labor in the formal industrial sector. A common form of exploitive child labor in Haiti is the traditional practice of trafficking children from poor, rural areas to cities to work as domestic servants for more affluent urban families.[1938] A 2002 survey by the Fafo Institute for Applied Social Sciences estimated that 173,000, or 8.2 percent of children ages 5 to 17 years, were child domestic workers.[1939] Many domestic workers, known as restaveks, work without compensation, reach the age of 15 to 17 years without ever having attended school,[1940] are forced to work long hours under harsh conditions, and are subject to mistreatment, including sexual abuse.[1941]

Prostitutas haitianas desplazadas en su país Thursday, June 05, 2008
Por: Antonio Santana

Unas 75 prostitutas haitianas han sido repatriadas en los últimos dos meses.

http://www.dominicanoshoy.com/app....e.asp?articleid=7760&zoneid=1

etiennc,

Where have you been living? Don't you know in Greece, Australia and other part of the world that eating mud cake is a common practice. People living in those countries just laugh and say what's the big deal when they hear stories about Haitians eating mud cakes. Haitian mud cakes are made with richest soil in the world. Are you jealous of the rich Haitian mud cakes. The Haitian mud cakes are so rich of calcium, magnesium and potassium. Two "mud cakes" companies from Australia have approached the Haitian government so it can enter into a contract with them so they can extract rich mud in Haiti Plateau Central.
