Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez plans to visit several European countries starting May 16, said National Palace sources quoted by newspaper Nacional.

It said the first stop for Fernandez and the delegation accompanying him will be Spain, where he would seek the disbursement of funds to conclude the project Merca-Santo Domingo, a large and modern market on the Duarte highway.

The sources said ambassador Cesar Medina is in charge of the President’s agenda in Spain, where an agreement will be signed to equalize the taxes on Spanish investments here, with their Dominican pars there.

According to the sources, the agreement will provide tax breaks for Spanish investments, mainly in the Dominican tourism industry, and won’t have to pay them in their country, because they’ll be treated as if paid to the Dominican State Treasury.

Re the photo I like the dress, but the hat, sorry..... looks like a vacinilla upside down, and white does no go at all with the outfit. So far for the fashion statements.

Josean,

Welcome back! Your commentaries have been missed.

What have you been doing? Have you ridden the metro?

Interesting you would return on day when we have DT headline on metro expansion-ironic, isn't it?

Anyway, glad to see you are back.

It is most important for the President to attract foreign investment into the DR and to project a good image of this country and so it must be expected that he will travel a lot and as is the norm , his wife will go with him ..I think he is doing a good job in this regard

I will be alone on this one, but the first lady of DR didn't wear Sunday''s best or most flattering outfits in this photo. I rather think she looks like a maid wearing the mistress' undersized clothes. The hat is another negative, but what the heck do I know-I only understand math and physics.

All patriotism aside, I think she looks hideous in this photo; however, she is clearly overmatched by the venerable queen.

Photo: Sorry, but she looks like a freaking TWINKIE, with the cream filling ozzing out at one end. A beauty she ain't.

LF still has yet to figure it out. The Spaniards have been screwing the Indians and later the Dominicans at ever corner, ever since Colon step foot on Hispanola. As long as the DR continues their non-priority stance on education of the people, this country will always be raped by foreign businesses, till nothing is left.
