Santo Domingo.– Lisandro Macarrulla, president of the National Business Council (CONEP), warned that government initiatives aimed at attracting investments are being undermined by some ministries.

According to Macarrulla, when a company decides to create a residential community, it takes two or three years to get the permits needed to start the project.

"CONEP receives several complaints from our associates who are worried because certain state agencies are real obstacles to development," the business leader said.

He also criticized the fact that while the government makes efforts to attract international investment capital, local as well as foreign investors are affected by bureaucratic stumbling blocks which stall the start-up of new projects.

In my humble opinion, the issue of corruption will be the greater determinant on foreign investment.

Hello, DR. Manon:
Is there any way or channel that you can pass all the comments to President L F. and let him wake up and know exactly the real things in DR????

Bureaucratic, one of the best way that government employees making money in cash either in Peso, US $, is so.... so.... typical and traditional cultural way in DR. I don't believe that LF does not know this., but he allows it and accepts it., because he need to stop the PRD and the PRSC saying behind him. They all compete who can make more money in 4 years term, in ????? whatever the ways....
