President Fernandez in a Spain economic event.
Madrid. - President Leonel Fernandez on Monday said Spanish companies have new fields of investments in his country, beyond their strong presence in the tourism industry, of which he stressed the global economic crisis hasn’t affected so far.
Fernandez met with king Juan Carlos in the first day of an official visit, and will meet with president Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero tomorrow.
For the Dominican chief executive, relations with Spain are in "a golden age" although with room for improvement, through new investments in sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure and telecommunications, with both countries’ relations "are going to be even stronger by the firm will of both societies to go hand in hand."
He affirmed his country guarantees legal security for investments and encouraged business leaders "to see Dominican Republic as an extension of Spain." In that regard, Fernandez and Rodriguez Zapatero will sign document on Tuesday that will prevent double taxation to spur investments by companies.
The Dominican leader, who’ll also ask the Spanish Government access to officials funds to conclude several projects in his country, visits Spain accompanied by his wife Margarita Cedeño and several senior officials.

Let me see! Spain gave birth to us. Spain came back in1809 and 1860 when we asked them to.
I will not mind if Spanish entrepreneurs continue to invest in DR! I don't think Spain wants to annex us politically (if they do, I will fight them) but a trade integration with the motherland is in order (just like the U.S. and U.K. live with each other). Like Russia and Southern Georgia.
I rather return to Spanish language, culture, ethnicity than being infested with the MERDE next door! But I prefer freedom, liberty, independence, mutual respect, self determination, and with the will to live AS A DOMINICAN!!!!!

Why do Dominicans think they are decendents of Spain, royalty, or indians when the majority of the people in DR have color in their skin? I guess Spain loves Dominicans so much they are trying to kick Dominicans out of Spain. The majority of Dominicans are decendents of African Slaves; because your skin is lighten doesn't change that fact.
The Dominican Republic was a colony of Spain. Most Dominicans are so proud of being Dominican why don't Dominicans stay in DR and make it a better country, no because Dominicans can't trust Dominicans. If the Hatians were white Dominicans would gladly accept them in DR. Get a reality check.
