OTTAWA.- Dominican Republic will create facilities to bolster commerce with, and investments from Canada, an effort the Caribbean nation expects to consolidate with the signing of a Free Trade Agreement, said the new Dominican ambassador in that nation, Jose del Carmen Ureña.
The diplomat presented his credentials on Tuesday before the Canadian Government in a ceremony headed by Governor-general, Michaélle Jean.
He told Jean that relations between Canada and Dominican Republic need to improve, and requested Canada’s support of education in his country through technical cooperation and aid to raise the professional level of teachers, and to develop specific educational programs.
