SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Government discusses the project to lay an submerged cable from Colombia with its the new Puerto Rico par, which would supply 500 meagwatts of electricity each of the two Caribbean nations.
The memo signed by the Dominican, Puerto Rico and Colombian authorities for the cable project, still in the study phase, establishes a confidentiality, although the companies behind it are private.
Dominican ambassador in Colombia Angel Lockward said the technical studies are advanced, and that the authorities will meet soon to examine the work’s progress. "President Uribe has stated his interest in the project and the same for president Fernandez, but it was necessary, as has already taken place, that their government assumed the control, and for Puerto Rico’s new authorities to review project."
