60 pesos for propane is still good compared to gasoline. Also, the gas station in this pic needs a bar with hot girls selling the beer.

Those prices are inexpensive compared to this...
http://www.drgolfproperties.com/reg/do/properties_view.aspx?pid=2917If not mistaken, this qualifies as some of the most expensive residential RE in the world based on $/m2. What is wrong with reality in the DR. I see it does not exist...$1,200/m2 for a tiny lot ! Give me Carmel, Palos Verde, Lake Forest or Ocean Reef...all less expensive, plus 24/7 electric ! Get real !

This rise in fuel prices is unwarranted and, on top of that, is criminal.
The price of fuel hasn't gone down from their highs of when oil was sitting at US$140, a few months ago. An now that it's at half that andehas risen to US$65.00, the government wants us to believe they need to raise the price of fuels yet again.
Just who the hell do they think they're kidding??
This is nothing more than gouging by the government under the aegis of higher cost of the basic product.
Also, they're saying that taxes need to be raised yet again.
Lets face it, the government is screwing the public big time and you're laying back andtaking it like the pros that you are.
Get some guts and put an end to this viscious cycle of legalized rape.
It's actions such as this that eventually drive people to revolt.
Do you want that???

First, excuse my bad english...
Then : I don't understant why, in such a country, there are no more solar energy.
Now, there are no more taxes on these products, but government must understant that he has to give incentives.
Energy is the most important negative line in the country finance.
But, what is surprising is that everywhere in the world prices are falling down, and not in DR.
(Rice, cement, barillas, vegetables and fruits, flesh, gasoil and so on...)
Where is the problem ?

Your diesel is exactly HALF the price of UK.
Then again, its 10 times the price of Venezuela...
Any use in comparing countries, when every one has its own tax regime and 'reason' to milk every last drop of money from the people that it can?
We have a huge pile of overweight politicians in the UK who need to cream every cent of 'legal' expenses they can because we don't have any corruption, poor things! No wonder so many of them are quitting at the stress of being discovered. Oh the shame....

I think that if we focussed on the things that politicians get away with, and I mean INEVERY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, we MIGHT soon have governments that respond to things like INTEGRITY, HONESTY and HONOR.
Until that happens, we are just whistling "Dixie".

danny, true. There are no emergency lanes for emergensy vehicles to use. Anyway if there was an emergency lane the people would drive in that lane too. But yes there is no way to get a fire hose that high people would burn. Also, I don't think that these buildings are hurricane or earthquake proof. They need to apply the Maimi building codes and enforce them. But as we all know, they will wait until a disaster happens to make a change
