SANTO DOMINGO.- The French Agency for Development loaned 13 million dollars for the second stage of the Plan Sierra Development Program, under an agreement signed by its president Alejandro Grullón, Hacienda minister Vicente Bengoa and French ambassador Roland Rubertrand.

The Agriculture Ministry and the Plan Sierra project will conduct the project, which includes reforestation, the development of renewable energy sources and the contribution to the protection and operation of infrastructure and economic activities in the entire Cibao region.

Its main focus is reforestation, soil protection, the construction of aqueducts and environmental cleanup in the country’s main water source, the north face of the Central Mountain Range.

The Program aims to improve the income and living conditions of La Sierra’s inhabitants by raising the soil’s fertility, reducing erosion which leads to the sedimentation of the dams and lowering the emissions of greenhouse gases, the main cause of climatic change.

um.... I am just reading the article over again. Are they not helping our country to grow? However, it was a loan. But they try to help us somehow, I might be wrong, but it is to my understanding that this is what they are doing. Our cellphones in Dominican Republic are from France telecom company, who owns Orange, and it we are most advance in Latin America in the cellular connection. I have pasted it below. " Utilities in the Dominican Republic."
"The Dominican Republic is probably the Latin American nation with the most advanced telecommunications system. Cellular phone service is offered by Verizon, Centennial and Orange (France Telecom), while other companies are looking to enter the Dominican market. The intense competition, and multi-million investments of these companies, has allowed the DR to stay at the vanguard of technological developments, and continuously implement aggressive marketing programs to introduce new products and services to the Dominican market."

CibaoDominicana you're the only one that don't sound ghetto here congratulation! The money is not going to be stolen ghetto hood rats, it will go to the assigned project. We are not Haiti where everything given is stolen, we haven't reached that state of nirvana yet. Again i wonder why the French don't help Haiti hmmmmm?

Gizmoe gracias caballero! Thank you so much for your comment, and yes indeed, France should try to help our neighbors too, hopefully their government would do something to interact with the French. I just am happy that our government and people are doing something to help Dominican Republic develop further for the better every year, and years to come.
