Santo Domingo. - A 4.4 degree tremor shook the North-Northwest region Friday morning, when residents of the towns Sabaneta, Montecristi, Villa Vásquez, Puerto Plata, Mao and Samaná said they felt it.
State University UASD Seismological Institute director Eugene Polanco said so far there are no reports damages from the 5:45 a.m. quake “It’s considered moderate because it can cause damages depending location and depth, if there’s some construction right in the place where it happens, slabs and floors could crack.”
He said tremors of that magnitude have been occurring across the country the entire year and which, due to for tremors to take place."
