Moscow. - Two major Russian banks, Capital Bank and Unifin Bank, yesterday stated their interest in financing solar energy projects in Dominican Republic, within the incentive laws on foreign investment.

Meanwhile two natural gas companies yesterday sought information on the design and budget and almost concluded project of the Dominican Government to install a refinery or a natural gas storage plant in Manzanillo (northwest).

The signs of interest took place during a meeting headed by Dominican Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales with an especially contacted group of investors, in a building located in a metropolitan zone.

Morales, who was received by executives of Russia’s export sector and government officials, told them of president Leonel Fernandez’s interest in foreign investments and that the official, high level visit to Moscow this week is part of Dominican Republic’s efforts to obtain new partners for its development.

DR is taking HAND-OUTS from the wrong People, I don't undersand....What makes DR's gov. think that DR can pay back all the monies she borrows for all these projects. DR can't keep her employees in check......Whats going to happen is that, DR is going to be WHORE in debt and is going to have to give it up for free(until the intrest is payed)...These countries that are willing to lend, see an opportunity. Its like giving a crackhead CRACK and taking it away, the crackhead will get on its knees and do anything for it(Odd jobs to make ends meet).........Solar Power Panels!! DR doesn't need them. How about paying the Electric bills, Education and a REAL Public Transportation with Transit AUTHORITIES and not by that gentleman that has DR by the balls with the transportation monopoly

RobertoJose as I have been saying on numerous articles here on DT, these things are signs of the beginning of the end, all of these new deals and opportunities popping up from foreigners are all consequences of our deals with the IDB, IMF and World Bank. All the large countries are in cahoots with these entities so once they see any opportunities to milk us for all we are worth they jump on it with the quickness. I find it sad that most Dominicans have no clue as to what these steps will mean for their future, they think complaining when things are getting bad is going to do anything. These things need to be attacked before they are implemented, but that won't happen with the crooked politicians selling their souls for some money. DR is going to be like Jamaica and Ecuador, slaves to the IMF/WB/IDB debt and will default sooner or later. At that point I fear we will either become an outcast by turning "commie" or become a helpless slave to the foreign debt owners.

to deal with different country my friend because if we keep doing business with the North
we will be the same poor country for years and years to come and everytime a new president comes
we will die saying the same thing that lots of peoples here say about Leonel,Leonel is like Obama too much for so little peoples or too smarts for so many Idiots.

dr must look outside of america for its developemental help. this is still a developing country, as much as we would like to see it standing on its own 2 feet, that day has yet to come.
the world is investing in renewable energies as a logical, economic and enviromental option to solve an enivitable power problem down the line. brazil and india have been awarded many financial aid packages , including grants (you do not sell your soul as they dont need to be paid back) to develope renewable energy programs.
why talk about paying electricity bills if the sun and wind gives you the same for free after the initial set up cost.
this is foresight on the part of the president ,he is looking to the future, a better future (dont be so dominican and forget how it was with hipolito)
this is an opportunity for dr , corruption is the reason many opportunities fail but in the current economic situation the monies being sent in aid to countries such as dr are now under investigation

to continue ... ran out of space !!!
the aid being sent to developing countries are also being monitored closely. a sucessful renewable energy program within a country is a big plus in todays world to help attract forigen corporations to set up their business in a country.

A couple of years ago people would get very upset because I dared to criticize the eighth wonder of the world the "Chicharron Express" aka the METRO. Time provide that it was folly and a financial disaster, that will be a financial albatross around the necks of the Dominican taxpayers

Now some stragglers still think Lie-onel Fernandez is a good president, time and history will also proof them to be grossly incorrect.

JOSEAEN:

Since when does a free country needs the ok from UNCLE SAM ? It is not their colony....!

I don't see you questioning HUGO CHAVES visit to RUSSIA, due to the provocation of 6 AMERICAN

military bases in COLOMBIA ?

All (CRAZZY ) HUGO needed was an excuse to ask for the RUSSIAN'S presence in the

WESTERN HEMISPHERE, as it was done in the cold war and the missile crisis in CUBA.

I can't see the president of COLOMBIA playing the part of an (arrodillado) as HUGO calls him.

In the first place the Gringos don't want Colombia as well as PANAMA in the free trade agreement

Why would this guy URIBES get his nose where he is not wanted. After ECUADOR would not give

them another 10 yrs lease over MANTA AIR BASE? All of the sudden he wants the AMERICAN

presence in the region?, so what do you think HUGO is negociating with the RUSKIES? in my

oppinion this was bad timing in his part, when the GRINGOS could as easly move to EL

SALVODOR, existing B

the_analyst. You are one million percent correct.

Mr Thelma, read the_analyst and you will see that the DR is not as free as you think it is now & ESPECIALLY in the future. Also, Uribe has no choice, he was given the H1N1 from the CIA as areminder to 'accept' the airbase deal. He had no choice. The globalists will unleash their weapons in many unsuspecting forms anywhere in the world if any leader defies them. NWO is what people need to Google & focus on in order to counter them (if that's even possible). Only then may the average person begin to understand how intertwined it is with the IMF, UN, world Bank, etc. The US needs those airbases to gain control (possession) of drugs just like the phony Afghan scenario. Much $$$ to be made for these corrupt govt NWO warlords. They don't want the gangs to profit from trafficking when they themselves can steal it.

joseaen ;
I would not place Canada in the same group, since it is already under another imperialist nation's protectorate, call Great Britain as a nation not a Republic. The Crown of England still ownes Canada
but not the French province of Quebec. If the English Royalty ever gets kiked out of England they have a place to run to as well as AUSTRALIA. Will not be to the Britons advantage to rid of the Monarchy, since that is what keeps the Sterline pound afloat to the rest of the world's.Why do you think they are called commonwealth?

As far as Vivacuba's comment. i can't see the CIA involved in a mediocre politicians push for power extension in both VENEZUELA as well as COLOMBIA. For what i understand the president of COSTARICA had adquiered the H1N1 followed by the Peruvian.

As to HUGO'S last stop in Europe, he was in for a suprise, when the Spaniiards gave him the good news of the biggest natural gas off-shore in VENEZUELA. Now he could buy more friends .

Speaking of loans;
What do you make of Spain's Prime Minister Zapatero's gift to Bolivia? I thought it was wonderful to forgive its 112 millions debt and 40% back towards education and the other 60% to apply as
needed. Let us not forget that Bolivia is the Latin Amirican's poorest country next to Haiti.
To be honest with you , in my opinion only .I don't think any Capitalist country wouldl give money away that easy ,without strings attached.. Tin,copper lead mining comes with that forgiveness to let them have the exclusiveness rights over any other country. Seems ok to me since any other investors sucks them dry and give them nothing in exchange, specially the IMF & W/B. I am not attacking any country in particular ,since they all fall under the so call Glovalization including China and Russia not to mention USA,England,France,Germany,Canada.
Did you see Mr President Bebo Morales's face when Mr Zapatero made it public exonerating Bolivia's debt with Spain? He was about to cry.
