Higher fuel prices influenced the Index.
Santo Domingo. - Inflation rose just 0.10% in December, the Central Bank said today in its report on the Consumer Price Index (IPC), whereas 2009 closed with an inflation of 5.76%, well below the limit expected in the Monetary Program.
It said the annual results stem from higher fuel and electricity prices (3.65 percentage points). It notes however that if the direct influence from those increases were to be excluded, annual inflation would barely reach 2.11%.

Sure doesn't seem like 5.76% when I go shopping for anything, food, clothing, fuel. Can anyone name anything that is up less than 6% this year, or is this just another example of the government lieing to us?

can anyone name any basic item that has risen more than the 6% ..fruit has been so much cheaper and the basic items such as beer ,rum ,bread, rice and chicken have stayed at stable prices .And at the same time there have been wage increases at the lower level and also tax benefits to the lower income people .Better than living in Venezuela ;Honduras;Brazil;Argentina or Peru just to name a few countries where the poor are doing it much worse than here.

Ricardolito, you government stooge:
Your government cheerleading is up way more than 6 %, as are the prices of gasoline, eggs, milk, and many, many other staples. I know that my shopping has not changed dramatically, but I know that my bill has. And not for the better.

you need to go to another shop or I can get Chauvez to close yours down for raising prices

electricity is up ?? you pay for that ??? ,international air fares are up ..sorry but not in the index and at any rate have gone down, water is up by 5% ..Sorry but there are independent sources for inflation figures so you can not just disbelieve the central bank ..one thing that is definitely has gone up is fast food but what person living here would eat that expensive trash when there is great fruit and vegetables. today platanos maduros for only 8 pesos a pound and greens are cheaper .

So in other words, if I want to live on platanos and potatos, prices are only up 5.76% but if I want to eat meat of fish its way up?
Ricardolito: Go away, please.

I guess people like you eat foreign meat but the price of Dominican pork is still cheap and if you want to eat fish , then that is not in the index .so get the commodities in the price index and stick to them ,,just forget all the imported luxuries that you use and stay Dominican
