Santo Domingo.- The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAMDR), in its firm stance of spurring a debate on the use of efficient energy in hotels, industry and the public in general, will host a seminar in the Meliá hotel on Thursday headed by an expert in intelligent constructions, who is a member of the U.S. Council for Green Construction.

AMCHAMDR Services manager Ilka Gomez and Indra Systems business manager for the Caribbean, Alejandro Fernandez provided the information yesterday, interviewed by newspaper Caribe.

Fernandez said the topic of intelligent networks is about integrating a series of technologies that are appearing and evolving in the world of electric energy distribution, to adapt it to the control of the energy distribution network, citing that many buildings in Europe have their own solar panels for energy.

He said those places have regulations in effect which demand the implementation of renewable energy for building constructions.

Kudos for the National Energy Commission

Gomez stressed the government’s support for AMCHAMDR’s initiative, and affirmed that “proof of that” is that National Energy Commission (CNE) president Enrique Ramirez uses the forum to provide some information referring to the sector.

She regretted however that in the topic of clean or green energy there’s still much work to do.

Solar Power still costs about 5$ per Watt for Equipment. Panels, Battery's, Inverter etc.
To run one single AC Unit on Solar Power you need to invest about 8000$.

@ Patricia

Yes, it is. But, if goverment manages those costs efficiently and charge it's users for rental of the service instead of the amount consumed it would be a great relief in the dominican's expending. Expecially if you consider the high amount of taxes in electrical services.

Of course, it would only be like that if rental price is below RD$400 with taxes.
