Santo Domingo.- Canada’s ambassador Todd Kuiack announced that his country’s Consulate began operating in Dominican Republic two weeks ago, making it easier to get a visa for Dominican who wish to travel to that nation.
Previously Dominicans had to travel to Haiti for a visa, but can now request it in the Canadian office in the capital’s Acropolis Plaza.
The diplomat noted however that they haven’t the capacity to issue visas to a large number of people yet. “When I have arrived here four months ago the first thing I was asked was why must we go to another place to request a visa to go to Canada? Then we worked on that and we have the capacity to issue visas."
In another topic, Kuiack affirmed that the Canada based mining company Barrick Gold contributes to the country’s economy, citing among them the creation of 3,000 direct jobs and US$3.0 billion investment.

most haitian live in the french area, and most haitian learn english in school... that is an advantage that they have over Dominican. But many hispanics are moving to Canada so I think the numbers will reverse soon

This is somewhat misleading as we have never had to go to Haiti to get a Canadian visa....just go to the embassy. Done it two times....no problem. The paperwork is then forwarded to PAP

The border is guarded with unmanned space drones and infrared sensors.
If anything, the border has to be guarded to halt illegal flow from south to north -- with the U.S. economy in the tanks and the government on the verge of bankruptcy due to the spiralling deficit.

With the Olympics in Vancouver, and the incidence of the psychological disorder known as ‘Canadian pride’ at an all-time high, it’s long past time to address the peculiarity to our north. Normally, Canada isn’t a subject of much reflection for us, but after that debacle of an opening ceremony and the excessive hype about Canada’s first home-turf gold medal (it felt a little like gym class, where everyone hoped the spastically untalented kid scored at least one basket),........your comments
