Retireers will be close to Aguas Blancas, the Caribbean's highest waterfalls.
San Juan, Puerto Rico.- The ambitious Century Grand Constanza project of development and environmental protection will be built at a cost of US$10 million, and its promoters call a sustainable tourism model which will benefit the municipality.
Maximo Brito, director of the office in Puerto Rico responsible for the construction of the project in Constanza (center), said it will be developed in three years and will be the most innovative ecotourism project ever conceived in the country’s North region and will be a model ecological and retirement city for Dominicans and foreigners.
“The zone needs the protection of its environment and the investors from New York and London such as Sergio Pino, president of Century Home Builder, agreed that it’s essential to protect the zone and conserve its biodiversity,” Brito said.

See how long it takes to get all the permits and licenses, and how many secret commissions are to be paid before the real investment can begin.
I suppose there are honest government officials in the country, but they are more expensive than the corrupt ones.

Yes, lets get rid of concrete monstrosities of resorts financed by crazy americans and get to real bamboo eco-resorts.
Many sticks of dynamite are needed in the DR to get rid of the concrete!

I am not saying there should not be progress. An airoplane, a lightweight structure stands tremendous aerodynamic forces. Tents have been tested in wind tunnels up to 200 mph.
http://www.expo.planetmountain.com/Download/pdf/news/MHWTents.pdfLightweight structures are a practical housing vacation solution. They are also portable so should it be needed the land can be restored to its pristine state.

They should build cabins and buildings only using local material WOOD and stone found at the site as possible.
The material should echo the surrounding environment.
This pristine area should be an ecological educational, leaning, environmental, recreational area that could be used as a learning center where kids from the cities and barrios can be exposed and fall in love with nature, learn to be environmentally responsible, and make this area a destination for the end of the semester. This should not be limited to tourists or people with money.
Otherwise it is a sin to not allow a big chunk of land for this cause for our youth.
From: Dominican Republic, Civil Rights and Peace Activist for Our Dominican People
abc, I love Lucerne and never seen such a clean village, just breath taking, Constanza and Jarabacoa should research what the Swiss have done in such villages, the view are spectacular and the buildings are kept minimum.
If we take a look at the American National Parks like Yosemite and Yellow stone, all, most cabins and buildings are made out of wood, and the revenues from visitors are incredible.
