Santo Domingo.- The president of the multinational AES Dominicana affirmed Monday that the Government owes around 500 million dollars to the power companies, a situation he says prevents their operation at the level the population demands.

In another topic Marco De la Rosa stressed AES Dominicana’s investment aimed at making the country’s energy system more efficient. “This year we aim to increase imports by 35 percent. We’re trying to bring around 11 tankers to the country, since we brought only seven last year.”

Gmiller,

You beat me to it. Lets just forget about what was mentioned last year and start all over again. Now that we owe half a billion dollars, how is it going to be paid back so that the rolling black-outs could end. I have an aprtment by the malecon (nice-n-expensive) that i was told that the area is a 24/7 of elec. community because of the University that sit behind me. lol... I fell for the gimick and purchased.

Wait a minute.

LIE-onel said in his speech that he was going to solve the electricity problem. Or was that last year? Or was that the year before? Or the year before that.

This is something I don't understand; black out all day every day, and these companies collect from the people and from the government?
Can somebody explain that to me?
No wonder why we have a broken system, they make more money, therefore is going to stay like that.

That's not news to anyone other than the folks at WMF and BID that lent 300 million in November, and the money went another way.

You guys are "barking up the wrong tree" Edenorte, and the rest, need to eliminate "stealing" of power in any way. Then they will be able to pay their bills. Theft is rampant throughout the DR... considered a sport.. Get REAL, Get the THIEVES
