Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez Canada Governor General Michaëlle Jean met in the National Palace on Wednesday ,where the two leaders spoke about important regional topics.
Jean, who arrived at the house of Government at 1 p.m., read a document to the press, although reporters weren’t allowed to ask her any questions, a measure aimed at preventing the issue of the contract with the Canadian miner Barrick Gold, a company which diverse sectors say its operation harms the environment.
A National Palace source said Canada’s Governor General doesn’t want to talk about to the controversial topic, for which she cautioned that she wouldn’t respond to journalists’ questions.
